Yes there are freebies, but those have been diminished by interest bills and underquoting of provisional items for us. I think you can get lucky and have an positive, efficient build, particularly dependent on your salesperson, builders interview person and site supervisor. So I hope it all goes well for you Tasha and so far the progress seems good. And maybe different north than south too. Metricon are one of the companies going very fast in our estate, and Simonds seem efficient too. Hopefully for you it will be excellent Re: Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA - frame is up 265Dec 20, 2013 10:08 am It will be very interesting fairmont. Although I've prepared myself for the worst now and hoping for the best. As long as it looks great at the end A little more progress yesterday with gutters and fascia being delivered and someone running water pipes through the house. As much as I like progress I was horrified to hear some poor bugger had been out there yesterday. When it's 43 degrees progress can wait. Building the Leabrook with Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA. Shopping finished, presents wrapped and santa has been and now I can relax to enjoy my favourite day of the year I thought I would just take a moment out to wish everyone a merry christmas. I really hope it is a wonderful day for all. Building the Leabrook with Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA. Not much is happening with us. Construction hasn't started again yet but with the roof due to go on next I hope they hold off until next week now. No poor bugger should be putting roofs on in this heat! Have done some shopping and getting creative over the last few weeks though. Got some gorgeous aqua hand towels and bath mat for the main bathroom, picked out our new couch, brought a red rotating spice rack, a bathroom set for the main bathroom and Disney cars quilts, curtains etc for my baby boys room cause he has decided lightning McQueen and cars in general are the coolest thing ever over the last few months. Made choosing a theme for his room much easier haven't got any pictures and its all stored at my MIL's! Silly me! I did take a picture of our gorgeous wall hanging entertainment unit we brought though. It's white and red gloss with glass top and is my favourite. I love it! http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/tasha ... sort=3&o=0 And a painting I made for our bedroom. Not happy with the two outside pieces so going to do them again so they don't look so much like the southern cross but you get the gist. http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/tasha ... sort=3&o=1 Currently painting some black, grey, silver, red canvas' for the lounge at the moment and will do Oscar some cars characters for his wall. Another FM home around the corner had all the railing for roof tiles put up today, so you may get lucky with your roof if the trades go out early in the day for a few hours. I'm also keeping myself distracted planning and organising, and had a nice long trip to IKEA today. I hope we both get some good construction happening very soon! We have had our windows and sliding doors put in, the window and sliding door frames, sand has been delivered, neighbour sent a photo of the fascia being put on this morning but as of Saturday there was still no sign of the stuff to do the roof. Just keeping myself busy with more shopping. Picked Ella out a new bedroom suite this time and a big boy bed for the little man but getting a little impatient now although I am pretty proud how well I have done so far lol Building the Leabrook with Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA. The heat has knocked my kids around terribly. Mr almost 2 had temperatures rising for 6 days last week, then Ella joined in on it, then they got better followed by Ella getting sick again (I'll spare you the details on that one, luckily it only lasted a night) THEN Oscar having a fever again last night. Not sure where they get this from cause I am a summer baby and love the heat (maybe not today's heat though ). We are progressing finally. The roof arrived last week and me and Mick were joking about how it would now sit there for 4 weeks before anyone touched it lol and while that hasn't moved they did prove us wrong. Firstly, the gutters and fascia went on the other week. http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/tasha ... sort=3&o=2 http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/tasha ... sort=3&o=1 AND yesterday out bricking started. Now don't laugh it is only the tiniest little bit but enough to keep me happy. We have word they are out there again today. Hopefully they have an early minute cause it is so hot! http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/tasha ... sort=3&o=3 http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/tasha ... sort=3&o=0 We are really happy with the bricks so far. They look really good up and I LOVE my windows. They are all so big and will let in so much light. One thing we hated about the place we were renting was the kids rooms had these little strip windows and you had to turn the light on in the middle of the day because it was so dark. Hopefully they have realised they have given us a date that is 3 months away and they need to move their butts and we see some momentum gain from here in on Building the Leabrook with Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA. Re: Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA - Bricks started 276Feb 11, 2014 10:44 pm Hi Tasha, good to hear an update. All I can say is that this is like watching grass grow! We also have gutter and fascia. And that blue stuff sitting on site for 4 weeks! A roof was delivered 2-3 weeks ago, but was the wrong colour, and the correct colour hasn't arrived yet. No sand on site as yet, but hoping either brick or roof happens soon. Bricks look good so far - I'd be excited by that much action right now! It is painful never knowing when there will be trades onsite, especially when you go days/weeks with no action. Looking forward to seeing pics of completed brickwork. Jennifer I hope they get going again on your site soon! Re: Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA - Bricks started 278Feb 14, 2014 7:50 pm I popped out to the estate the other day Tasha and saw the progress. How exciting! It's full steam ahead now. The house next to us has gone up really quickly too. I wonder who they are building with, do you know? I can't believe this weather! The Sahara Desert one day, Noah's Ark the next. The school flooded today and the poor kids weren't able to go outside to play all week. Jennifer, that is an understatement. I seriously think building is more painful than giving birth lol. They have cracked along this last week even with the weather They worked everyday last week until it got too hot or too rainy except Friday which well, the rain didn't stop. Then they were out there again Saturday and Sunday and this is what it looked like as of yesterday morning. http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/tasha ... sort=3&o=0 http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/tasha ... sort=3&o=1 http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/tasha ... sort=3&o=2 http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/tasha ... sort=3&o=3 Melanie, I was out at the school yesterday getting enrolment forms. I was so impressed. They offer a lot more to the children's education than they do at Ella's current school. The principal was lovely too, giving me a tour. Made me feel really welcome I don't know if you will be able to make it but I thought I would mention it in case you hadn't heard about it and could get there.
