Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 19, 2013 7:48 pm LONG STORY SHORT:- We have 2 brick walls & 2 glulam kapur beams for the 4 sides of our alfresco.. and just noticed it has been installed with timber beading (dont know size) adjoining the plasterboard ceiling. Our addenda says 75mm cove cornice.. After contacting SS who was unaware it turns out that ceiling fixer has said gyprock cornice is not recommended for use on timber beams due to movement & future maintenance issues... Sooooo is this a true future issue or just a cop out? I have also asked that surely a credit would be in order! Urgent opinions please as we need to say yay or nay tomorrow.... More so outside where the humidity affects exposed timbers far more. But certainly there is more appealing timber coving,scotia,mouldings that could be used in place of beading? Probably at an expense of course.... Re: URGENT exterior cornice or beading issue needs resolving 3Feb 19, 2013 9:22 pm Hah thanks Marmalade...so thats the point now then...we paid for cornice...i wonder what difference if any cost there would be between the beading stuff and the original 75mm coving...I am sure there must be something that looks like cornice but is made of timber...i thought scotia but SS said thats mdf and not suitable for exterior applications...
