Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 19, 2013 8:38 am Due to council regulations we have had to change the roof pitch from 22.5 degrees to 18 degrees. When looking thru our tender we have been changed this as a fee.
Now I am a female and really don't know a lot (anything for that matter) about all things roofing, however I would expect that a lower roof pitch would equate to less materials used, and therefore should not be an extra expense ... Please confirm or correct me if I am wrong, because I am pretty annoyed about this fee. We are being a custom build, so it isn't like the builder has to change their plans. Could someone please clear up this matter for me, before I send off an email to the builder with regards to this fee. If you have put any part of the house under the eaves then there is an extension of slab and wall materials. Also these changes have to be shown on working drawings, so you are probably getting a drafting fee as well. Any structural alteration to your home requires building permit.
