All white kitchen (stone bench tops off white), dark grey tiled floors, stainless steel appliances/ draw and cupboard handles.... not sure to go with a lightish grey or pure white glass splashback.... Any thoughts? If we went with grey I'd probably go with Dulux Silkwort, to match our feature wall in the living area. White, we'd go with 'white sparkle' on ultra clear glass - pure white with metallic 'sparkles' through it...... What to do!? My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 Re: Ben Trager Homes: splashback PLS HELP! 303Nov 27, 2013 2:08 pm i would go with the grey especially tying in with the feature wall. to ,e going with a white splashback would be too much Re: Ben Trager Homes: splashback PLS HELP! 304Nov 27, 2013 6:52 pm Thanks for the feedback I'm worried tho that the grey will look odd with off white bench tops... But then I think white will make our kitchen look a bit boring... My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 Re: Ben Trager Homes: Finishing concerns 305Nov 28, 2013 10:58 am Thanks for the PM's and to 1rocky, had to make a decision - going with dulux silkwort, metallic look, on ultra clear glass. Fingers crossed it will look good! Went to the house yesterday, site has been cleared, some more painting has been done (they have also painted some things they shouldn't have!), an issue with part of the ceiling near the kitchen finally 'fixed' (from outside looking in however still looks crooked).... All we could really see from the outside. Unfortunately painting to render on one of the portico pillars (splotches of something got onto it so had to get painted over) has ruined the lovely textured look we had, it's like the painters got a whole heap of paint on a roller and slapped it on, so the texture has been filled in, not happy ![]() Electrical work still needs doing, hopefully plumbing issues have been fixed... Bit worried about handover, hopefully we are happy with everything come Monday! My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 Re: Ben Trager Homes: Finishing concerns 306Nov 28, 2013 3:48 pm We think the grey splashback will look great (sorry we didn't make any suggestions yesterday, had other things going on ![]() Best of luck for Monday. Re: Ben Trager Homes: Finishing concerns 307Dec 02, 2013 9:59 pm We have keys!! So happy ![]() PCI2 went well, there is a big list for the painters to get through, some bathroom accessories to go on (soap dish and bath towel rack) and they are in the process of changing a down pipe to the portico so its flush against the pillar. A couple of other things and we are good to go! Then we had a handover meeting in Osborne Park, it was good to speak to Ben Trager himself about the house and the small issues we had towards the end. Then we just went over the usual signing of papers and the keys were ours! House warming present from BT! ![]() Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like with any build there are going to be issues, lucky for us these issues were only minor and to do with the finishing of the house, which have all been addressed and over the next few days will be finalised. Really happy with the final product and thrilled to have had a pretty smooth ride for our first build. Definitely not taking that for granted having read some other building experiences on here! Now we cant wait to move in!! My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 Re: Ben Trager Homes: Pop the champs, the keys are ours!!!! 308Dec 02, 2013 10:05 pm Congratulations. Enjoy your lovely house. Great work to get you in before xmas. Re: Ben Trager Homes: Pop the champs, the keys are ours!!!! 309Dec 03, 2013 12:17 am Great news, congratulations and I hope the few items flow quickly and easily. Re: Ben Trager Homes: Pop the champs, the keys are ours!!!! 311Dec 16, 2013 12:17 pm Thanks guys Its been 2 weeks since we got the keys, thought I might do a bit of an update. Sorry, no pics just yet - want to wait till everything is done. Our painter was unfortunately delayed 2 days, but he finished the house yesterday and it looks great! He is going to come back on Friday after all of the other trades are done to do touch ups were the carpet layers/tilers may have scuffed or chipped the walls. Our tiler was also delayed 2 days, which sort of worked out in the end with the painter, meant they didnt have to work around each other too much! He should be finished wednesday/thursday this week. He is doing a fantastic job, tiles with the paint colour look great! Carpet was supposed to go in today, but as the tiler hasnt tiled to the edges of the rooms where carpet is going, they will have to install it tomorrow. The glass splashback is being installed today, at the last minute changed my mind regarding the colour, very glad I ended up going with white as I think grey would have been too much with the greay feature paint and grey flooring. Double gates to side of the house have finally been installed, these were delayed by a few weeks but couldnt be happier with how the company dealt with the delay (caused by no fault of their own) and the quality of the final product! Window treatments are going in tomorrow and electrician will start changing lights to LED downlights on Saturday. My other half has decked the entry to the front door, and is in the process of laying paving around the house. Over the past few weeks I have learnt that no matter how organized you think you are when organizing trades, you cant always rely on them to follow your 'schedule' due to a number things that are totally out of your control (and sometimes theres)! It has been hard just 'rolling with the punches' (bit of a control freak here), but in the last 2 weeks quite a lot of work has been done and we know the final product will look amazing! Pics soon, promise! My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 Re: Ben Trager Homes: Progress post handover 313Dec 23, 2013 11:58 pm FInally have some pics for you all! Have been moved in since Friday, we are all unpacked just need to set up the spare rooms and 'gym'! Absolutely love our home, everything we have been imagining for the past year has finally come to fruition! So happy with our own trades, they have all done a fab job. Tiler finished Thursday, electrician was in for a few hours on Saturday and fitted all down lights to living area and entry hall. Carpet was done in a day and couldn't be happier, same said for window treatments! Within a day the house went from a building site to somewhere we could actually live! Only thing left to do is painting to the stairwell, and swap over of down lights to remaining rooms of the house. Trades I can highly recommend as follows (PM for more details): Tiler - Matt Brown Tiling (did an amazing job, very thorough and lovely guy to deal with) Window treatments - Coastal Blinds (agent for ABC Blinds Mandurah) Splashback - Glass Man Standing (so many samples to choose from, so professional, great workmanship and once again a great guy to deal with, also very good prices!) Aluminium slat gates - Relax Outdoors, Port Kennedy http://www.relaxoutdoors.net/ Double gate - access for the boat Entrance - just needs a clean and oil Entrance Entry hall Stairs and storeroom http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s587/emacleo0/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpse02fe4dc.jpg http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s587/emacleo0/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsf450aa13.jpg Lounge http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s587/emacleo0/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsb72c070f.jpg http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s587/emacleo0/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps5ff8a7c7.jpg Love my kitchen http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s587/emacleo0/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps54eaeb9c.jpg http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s587/emacleo0/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsc4a0eaa9.jpg http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s587/emacleo0/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps19f4b5a7.jpg Main bathroom http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s587/emacleo0/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps9b6343d6.jpg Family coming over to check the place out, only the right way to celebrate! http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s587/emacleo0/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps68c202a2.jpg Sunset from upstairs http://i1307.photobucket.com/albums/s587/emacleo0/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsee2b370b.jpg My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62841 Re: Ben Trager Homes: Moved in - pics!! 314Dec 24, 2013 12:03 am Bumb the pictures are not showing on my iPad.
