Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 23, 2015 7:34 am My builder laid the agi drain next to the garage. The pipe looks like the one in the link http://www.sleepersdirect.com.au/agi-pipe-90mm-pvc/232-slotted-90mm-agi-pipe-60m-length-.html And then the bare pipe is covered by soil directly. Is that the way to do it? Will the pipe be blocked by the soil after some time? Re: agi drain? 2Mar 23, 2015 8:58 am Ok no expert, but I just did my retaining wall, and I bought socked Agi pipe and also layed it in a bed of aggregate Re: agi drain? 3Mar 23, 2015 9:01 am Quote: And then the bare pipe is covered by soil directly. Will the pipe be blocked by the soil after some time No. They are supposed to slide a nylon "sock" over it or geotech fabric around it which is like a fine mesh that keeps anything bigger than a grain of sand out of the pipe. Then they are supposed to backfill the trench on either side and over the top of the pipe to a depth of 50-100mm with 10 -20mm gravel which will aid the drainage and also keep larger organic material away from the pipe. Yes, it will block up real quick. At least he is using the rigid plastic pipe and not the bendy stuff which is hopeless unless you have lots of fall. Even so he needs to install it as per above for it to be effective long term. Stewie Yeah mine about 9 metres long and 8 wide with slope of 25% at one point but the end point of the outlet is past the side of garage and if he concretes allowing for… 4 4516 Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4072 Grab a hose, insert it at the top of the inlet/down pipe and turn the water on and see where the water is escaping from. Then you'll know. 3 8450 |
