Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 05, 2013 11:00 pm Hi Everyone, Wondering How many of you have done your own floorings with henley? I believe it will be cheaper ( although havent research on prices yet) but the problem is henley will give skirting without being painted so there could be colour mismatch at later stage? Also wondering have you guys installed your own appliances as i havent heard really good feedback for Technika and La germania currently offered? How much credit they provide you? What are your suggestions regarding the same? Thanks in advance Cheers Re: Questions for people building with Henley? 2Feb 06, 2013 9:04 am If you're hoping to have a stained or varnished timber look for the skirting, you have to keep in mind that the quality of the timber they use when they gloss paint it isn't the same as if you want it stained and varnished. I can't remember how much Met. quoted me to have stained/varnished timber of that quality, but it was enough that despite how much I prefer the look, I had to decide against it. I think it may have been somewhere between $5k and $8k. Regarding trying to match them, you may not want or need to anyway. It's rather rare from what I've seen to have these match, and personally I don't think they need to - they'll just contrast against each other. For instance we have stained/varnished skirts throughout this house (built in 1982) and have bamboo flooring in the hallway and timber in the family room. It looks completely fine. Re: Questions for people building with Henley? 8Feb 18, 2013 2:22 pm Hey Sunnydays.. We also got credit for the dishwasher and got our own, but we actually got Henley to upgrade the oven to Smeg and it would have ended up costing slightly more than the shop.. we kept the rangehood as technika.. that would be easy to replace later if anything was to happen to it since it just a canopy rangehood.. Regarding the skirting, as far as I know, from Henley you will get the 9cm skirting which will be painted the same color as your architraves - which most likely be white or the likes. When I do my timber laminate flooring later on, the flooring company will install some sort of wedge-like skirting to cover the gap between the 9cm Henley skirting and the timber floor... Please correct me if I am wrong. I will also do the carpet outside. Re: Questions for people building with Henley? 12Feb 21, 2013 6:16 pm Hi Sunnydays, I just checked my color document - it says: Internal Paint Selection-Internal woodwork-Woodwork(Skirting&Architraves) - Finish: Dulux Professional High Gloss - Colour: Whisper White So, yep, the skirting is gonna be painted the same as architraves as I would have expected...
