Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 04, 2013 12:59 pm My partner and I are going to build a double storey house in the new Coburg Hill estate in Melbourne. We've chosen the 2700mm ceiling height option for the ground floor with upgraded door heights. For the second storey however, we've gone with a 2550mm ceiling height but I am unsure if I should upgrade to taller doors for this height as well. Does anyone have any recommendations or opinions on whether a standard door height (about 2100mm I think) would look okay with a 2550mm ceiling height? Any pictures you might have would be appreciated Re: Standard Doors for 2550mm Ceiling Height? 2Feb 04, 2013 1:45 pm Hmmmm... tough decision. I think you'll be okay - higher doors on 2550 leaves you with not a lot above the door. This is what 2100 looks like in a single-story with 2550 ceilings: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Personally, I'm glad I didn't go for taller doors in this instance. I'm actually thinking of pulling out the standard doors straight away and getting Corinthian doors to put in. Building a Delta 21 at Craigieburn - http://homeofzero.blogspot.com.au/ Deposit: 26/02. There is t much gap between the top of the doorframe and the cornice at all, I make the door look almost floor to ceiling, and very grand We didn't do the rest of the doors to the bedrooms in the back hallway, and now I wish we had. I'm reluctant to upgrade all the doors upstairs (as there are many more doors due to the all the bedrooms being upstairs) not to mention all the wardrobe slider doors, so if we can get away with standard height doors (without it looking odd), that is my preference. Just looked up Corinthian doors too...very nice! Unless the room is for storage then it's non compliant BCA V2 2019 S3 P3.8 You have 2 options 1.
