Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 01, 2013 10:18 pm Hi all
Thought I should start a build thread. So this is our second build and we are building The Australis (with some changes) with New Generation Homes. Signed up for our block (in Corimbia) in July 2012 and then had a nightmare of a time trying to get our finance unconditional. We used a Broker from a builder that we initially were thinking of building with and he was just useless. Eventually pulled the pin and used Stockland's finance and had the land settled within three weeks. New Generation have been pretty good, had our contracts out to us quickly and apart from a couple of mistakes in the final plans all has been good so far. Pre-start was easy as we knew exactly what we wanted so we were out in around two hours and spent about another two hours going over the electrical variations. We last built in 2007 with Dale Alcock Homes and the pre-start lady there was terrific, she had heaps of ideas and we incorporated some of them into this build. At the moment our plans are with scheduling and we're just waiting for a date for our slab to go down. Can't wait!!! ETA- will post some photos when I work it out... Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 2Feb 02, 2013 11:57 am Just found your thread, yay! Can't wait to see pics of your plans, getting a photobucket account would probably be the best way to get photos up We should have slabs pretty close together, woohoo! Party time for us. Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 3Feb 02, 2013 8:27 pm Welcome Palladian. Bring on the pics, yay!!. Photobucket is very easy to use Another build getting slabbed in the near future, we are all going to go through this together. Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 5Feb 03, 2013 3:38 pm Thanks guys. Our plans are not very exciting though! We built the 'wow' house in 2007. This one is very plain and simple in comparison! But will suit our family a lot better (I still do have the odd sigh moment over my old house - it was gorgeous!). I'm setting a photobucket account up, thanks for the tips! Will post some photos asap. Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 6Feb 03, 2013 6:02 pm Hi Palladian, look forward to seeing lots of pics Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 7Feb 03, 2013 11:08 pm Okay this is the original Australis: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our changes: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The view from our block: (don't have a photo of the block!) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The biggest changes were in the kitchen and turning Bedroom 4 into an activity/toy room. I HATE the kitchen where I am now, it's way too small, and the kitchen in my last build was fab, and I really miss it. So a decent kitchen was top of the list. Looking forward to the toy room as well cos if I stand on another piece of lego I'll go insane. Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 8Feb 03, 2013 11:13 pm Love the changes you've made! Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 9Feb 04, 2013 6:17 am also love the changes you made and you can always use the activity room as a fourth bedroom or guest room excellent kitchen is so much better Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 10Feb 04, 2013 9:37 am You're within a stones throw of us, woohoo! I can see the portaloo of our neighbour in the background of your pic Is your block the one with the mountains of dirt on it? Nice plan, also love the changes to the kitchen Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 11Feb 04, 2013 3:09 pm great changes, i love the use of kitchen space.. i changed my plan around to add extra to ours.. nice view.. i want pretty views aha Home Group WA Monte Carlo Timeline on Page 1 Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 12Feb 04, 2013 4:01 pm Thanks guys. After we put our changes to the New Gen Salesman he told us to go have a look at the Cosmos display...it is practically the same layout. I had looked at so many plans (particularly for New Gen) that they must have lodged in my brain somewhere. Much cheaper than building the Cosmos though! twiggens You're within a stones throw of us, woohoo! I can see the portaloo of our neighbour in the background of your pic Is your block the one with the mountains of dirt on it? Yes it is. Yeah we are very close to you guys! Have you met any of your neighbours yet? We've met the bloke who's on the opposite side of the road, nice guy, but not our next door neighbours yet. Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 13Feb 04, 2013 9:07 pm Palladian Yeah we are very close to you guys! Have you met any of your neighbours yet? We've met the bloke who's on the opposite side of the road, nice guy, but not our next door neighbours yet. The only neighbours we've met are the lovely ones directly behind us that like to share their dog poop. We keep hoping to meet the people building either side of us, but they're never there when we are We have friends that live in the established part of Landsdale just off Queensway - they say your neighbour (opposite side of road) is lovely as they walk their dog past and they always say hi I've never seen the people building next to you or behind you. It's amazing how in an estate with so many houses being built and so many people coming and going, you never manage to actually meet your anyone until you all move in! Having said that we only go up there every other weekend, though we have been dropping in more to see how much more crap has been dumped on our block. Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 15Feb 04, 2013 11:11 pm I think we have chosen the exact same white bathroom tile with the slight stripe through it, and most likely the same grey floor tile! Great minds clearly Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 16Feb 04, 2013 11:32 pm I love what you did with the kitchen - definitely a major improvement. Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 17Feb 05, 2013 8:17 pm looking great!! i love grey and white Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 18Feb 06, 2013 10:30 am ohhh love the powerpoints and light switch.. great selections.. love the bamboo.. We wanted these ones as well in our house but didn't think that $5,000 upgrade really justified these switches, so we went with standard C2000 range with metal plates. Here are some guidelines, of course prices most likely have changed since we had pre-start last year. Saturn Switches Upgrade from standard C2000: 1 button - $75 2 button - $88 3 button - $96 4 button - $112 5 button - $126 Saturn GPO upgrade is $72 Re: Building in Landsdale with New Generation Homes 20Feb 06, 2013 1:36 pm twiggens I think we have chosen the exact same white bathroom tile with the slight stripe through it, and most likely the same grey floor tile! Yeah we are not getting them in every room, most likely just in the kitchen for the power points and haven't decided yet about the switches. We are not getting them through Clipsal, have a Sparky in the family so he will be taking care of it. Nicci I love the bamboo too...it was so nice, but soooo expensive, and I had a much different salary back then, so might have to leave it on the wish list for a few years. Hi there!
