Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 301Apr 28, 2014 10:19 am Hi marknbet, Firstly congrats on your second build. Not many people have a second chance of building their homes. Now you have a second chance to do it right from the start We actually have a budget of $10k for electrical based on our reading in the forum in terms of electrical inclusion with most builder plus we're building second storey which would made us less flexible in terms of electrical for ground floor. We ended up spending $7k for electrical. $2k of that is for Data which I think of course overprice but our SS is very flexible. You can negotiate with your site supervisor. It's the SS discretion to let you in to do something during the build. At the end is the SS responsibility if anything happen during the build and the warranty cover by the wisdom if you ended up doing something yourself without compliance. SS doesn't mind for me to install a low-powered cable around the house such as speaker cable and DATA. Since I didn't know this previously, I already included the data ports in the electrical plan but I put the speaker cables myself. I did make sure we have enough powerpoint through out the house. Standard inclusion was no where near enough. I asked for light batten through out the house where the future downlight points would be primarily the ground floor. Make sure they're marked FDL (Future DownLight) so they're clear from batten ceiling around them. The minimum they can do is to supply the standard batten light. So I got an electrician to replace them with downlights post handover. I did ask if I can get our own electrician during the build. You have to get an electrican with the required insurance and compliance and able to supply compliance certificate and only then you're allowed to get in. Depending on your cable requirements you can include them with the electrical plan for the hard to do places and do the rest post handover with your own electrican afterwards. All the best with your build. Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 303May 06, 2014 10:20 am I'm paying $79/m for 100Gpeak/100Goffpeak with whopping 100Mbps Down / 40Mbps Up. speedtest.net via desktop I can get 90Mbps down around over 35Mbps up. on my mobile I can get 76Mbps down 33Mbps up. not really a downloader but I like when any streaming is snappy and not buffering. Q. you got a private inspection before handover can you tell me who you used? I noted on someone's blog issues with the frame. http://ourwisdomtrinity33.blogspot.com. ... aisal.html Interested if this person does periodic inspections through the build process. to marknbet re electrical/data I have been told now wisdom won't allow anyone except their contractors on site now. Due to insurance issues. So the data/HT cabling must be done with through wisdom or post handover. I have allowed 9K for electricals. Still planning the how many power points required and data. Planning to terminate all the data under the staircase. Building an impression 37. Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 307May 10, 2014 6:33 pm Hi Ugly99, We use Howard Ryan building inspection based on recommendation by fellow H1 users. Just google for it. You'll be able to contact him. Make sure you say to him that you know him from H1 forum for a discount. We only had 2 inspections: prior gyprock and PCI. Unless you have issues during the build I think those two inspections are ok. Yes. We also put the data/HT cabling via wisdom as needed. With impression 37 you better concentrate on your ground floor more as adding additional cabling will be more difficult later on. All the best during tender. Research more on the electrical plan example. Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 308May 26, 2014 11:36 pm cpaces For anyone wondering what is DoorBot doorbell. You can find out more here http://www.getdoorbot.com it was started as a kickstarter project that try to make a wifi connected doorbell. You can pick up and see and talk to your doorbell from anywhere on your mobile phone. How cool is that. costs US$200. Initial review so far pretty good. Setup was a breeze. Quality and the attention of details are remarkable. I'm happy so far considering a video intercom doorbell was quoted over AU$400 excluding installation cost. Re: Building Aspiration 35 Wisdom Homes at the Ponds 309May 27, 2014 1:29 pm Yes. Have been using it since day one. So far it's ok for its function. It all depends on your mobile coverage. Sometimes the push notification can be late when you're outdoor specially on a low signal coverage. What I'm planning to do is to add an indoor chime to also ring because sometimes you're not that close to your mobile or hear the notification alert sound. That's one of the highest requested item to have a indoor wifi chime. I'm not sure about SkyBell though. Both seems to be still maturing as smart door bell. Good luck with your build.
