That will add a lovely earthy element to the exterior! Great idea the house is coming together beautifully Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Re: Custom Build (Armidale): Lockup (vry nrly almost) 122May 04, 2014 9:44 am house is really coming along nicely Re: Custom Build (Armidale): Lockup (vry nrly almost) 123May 04, 2014 9:05 pm Thanks guys! Submitting my annual leave on Monday. We're both taking a month off, two weeks before the move and two after. So exciting now that's it's almost there! I came across this post because we are ion the process of deciding on wall cladding colour and we are leaning towards Monument. Our architect wants us to have silver windows though but I noticed you guys are going for black. Do you have any photos of your external walls yet? I would love to see how it looks! We prefer black but they think it will be do much dark on dark I'm not convinced! Good luck with the rest of your build and the big move! Re: Custom Build (Armidale): Lockup (vry nrly almost) 125May 05, 2014 10:33 pm Hi Cazpet! I would LOVE to post photos of the cladding but it's not on yet. I've got fingers and toes crossed it's on by the end of the week and then I will definitely post photos for you. I just wanted to keep it as simple as I could so I made them the same colour. It's neutral with anything happening inside the house and I really like house they frame the views. But silver would be good too. If you want I can pm you photos when I have them. What kind of cladding are you having? And what colour roof? Looking forward to new pics when you're at that point. Just curious, we are building an extension and are thinking of Colorbond Dune render and windows, and Wallaby roof. Do you think that would work? (It's got to sit against some stylin' 70s orange brick, so I want to keep it neutral and calm...). TIA. Re: Custom Build (Armidale): Lockup (vry nrly almost) 127May 07, 2014 7:25 pm Hi all! My lovely man went up to the block late this arvo and took some pics of our first little bit of cladding. They only started after lunch. I will post pictures once our garage door in Dune goes in and that might give you a better idea of how that will look I won't be able to get up tomorrow but I'm meeting the carpet guy over there on Friday so I'll take some better pics then. Went up to meet the carpet guy and got some photos. The cladding guys were nearly finished and it all looks great if I do say so myself. Very sharp indeed. I'm going to have to get him back up to measure for that room. Why is my brain so stupid sometimes??? Then the kitchen will be able to go back in properly and be finished off. Once the tiler finishes the floors, the vanities, laundry tub and screens etc. can all be installed and when the tiler gets a chance he can then finish off the wall and skirting tiles. The builder was telling me yesterday that when he first drove up and saw it he was like 'woah uh....hm' Didn't know quite what to make of it but he said now he reckons it's alright. I guess that's a seal of approval. I have to go up to the house some time today to drop off one of our downlights so they can cut the holes in the plaster and the insulation guy can finish, knowing where they're all going. So help me god if I don't see some floor tiles going down, I will have the right dirts. Builder's been having some trouble with him saying he's going to be there and not showing up. He;s apparently done the same thing at a close by job that the builder recommended him for and I have a feeling if he doesn't pull his finger out soon, that's the last recommendation he'll get from the best builder in town. We have 5 weeks left and we can't be waiting for him to get his act together. They need to start fixing off now and he's holding it up.
