Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Colorbond Roofs vs Concrete Roof Tiles (Melbourne West) 30Jan 31, 2013 5:08 pm Oh thats right, you have your colours today!! I almost forgot. How did it go? Did you end up choosing rooftiles? My admin person told me today to upgrade ceiling insulation from R3.5 to R.4.0 batts only cost $100. So if we choose colorbond, we will upgrade our ceiling insulation to R4.0. This should help reduce rain noise too. Williams Landing Stage 10 - Kingwell Neighbourhood Re: Colorbond Roofs vs Concrete Roof Tiles (Melbourne West) 31Feb 01, 2013 8:21 am Hi FND, the color selection went well. we were pretty much set on our selections before the appointment.... we ended up with rooftiles - and are happy with our decision... Oh really, if it's only $100 then, I might also upgrade the insulation... thanks for the info! Our tender is in 2 weeks... Re: Colorbond Roofs vs Concrete Roof Tiles (Melbourne West) 32Feb 02, 2013 11:26 am No worries. Yeah we also thought, since its only $100, might as well upgrade to R4.0 I have called my admin person to change our rooftiles to colorbond yesterday. I hope i have made the right decision! It ends up costing me $500 cheaper because in williams landing, we are only allowed to use flat rooftiles, which is $500 upgrade from standard rooftiles. Re: Colorbond Roofs vs Concrete Roof Tiles (Melbourne West) 33Feb 02, 2013 11:39 am fantastic decision love colorbond Re: Colorbond Roofs vs Concrete Roof Tiles (Melbourne West) 34Feb 03, 2013 9:14 am FND No worries. Up here in Plumpton I'm looking at approximately 7,000 for a colourbond roof with sarking ;_; HD Re: Colorbond Roofs vs Concrete Roof Tiles (Melbourne West) 35Feb 03, 2013 10:15 am JB1 Unsurprisingly they look like tiles! lol It's boral french profile in eclipse colour. It's unglazed so has a Matt finish in dark grey colour. I didn't really like the shiny finish. That's a lovely colour, and I think the Matt finish is really nice! HD Re: Colorbond Roofs vs Concrete Roof Tiles (Melbourne West) 36Feb 03, 2013 1:52 pm I'm surprised so many people would chose tiles over colourbond. I have a house with each and hands down the colourbond is better. I climbed into the roof space of the tile roof in winter and was amazed at how draughty it was. Any heat that makes it past the insulation is lost. Also in a storm I have not had a colourbond roof leak but on several occasions had the tiles leak enough to leave a stain on ceiling. Just my 2 cents Re: Colorbond Roofs vs Concrete Roof Tiles (Melbourne West) 37Feb 04, 2013 8:56 am FND We are building the Monaco Nouveau Q1 and are going for the colorbond roof.. Being free it's looking the provebial gift horse in the mouth. We were even prepared to pay for it. Re: Colorbond Roofs vs Concrete Roof Tiles (Melbourne West) 38Feb 04, 2013 6:18 pm I was gonna go with henley and loved their colourbond promo but I'm thinking i'll upgrade to it it sounds like a safer choice! Just my 2 cents Thanks for the suggestion JimmyL. Yeah, after much consideration, we have decided to go with the colorbond roof because of the benefits, even though I prefer the look of flat tiles Re: Colorbond Roofs vs Concrete Roof Tiles (Melbourne West) 40Feb 04, 2013 9:17 pm Aston Boy FND We are building the Monaco Nouveau Q1 and are going for the colorbond roof..
