Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" SLAB DOWN 21May 29, 2013 8:42 pm Mmm... what do you mean about the render? I've seen some badly stained from reticulation, but apart from that, I'm not aware of problems. I'm going to discuss this and many other issues in 2 weeks time with a landscape designer. I'll post again if they have any good ideas. Our old (and I mean 30+ years) colourbond fence (also in coastal area) had many problems in the end, but rust was not one of them. Could the product have changed? http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Lower Level 22Jun 09, 2013 10:57 am Frame is up on lower level. Pictures added to blog http://enviroarchbeachhouse.blogspot.com.au/ Had a good walk through. We specifically wanted a "small footprint" home so dimensions are what we call adequate. It was fun to walk through and see what it would be like. Hopefully rest of frame will be up next week. We've been lucky with rain so far either falling on a weekend or days where the builder was not due to work anyway. Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Lower Level 23Jun 09, 2013 11:08 am Looking great animal. Can't wait to see the rest take shape Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Lower Level 24Jun 09, 2013 8:49 pm cheers Charnley. Sorry housebywater missed your post. Around about 10 years ago a heap of houses up this way (lake macquarie/newcastle) started to get either render on new houses or render over old brick. A lot of them have the water and salt stains, but also a lot of flaking off as well. It's one reason why we avoided render. But it could be who they chose and what type, I'm not sure. Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Lower Level 25Jun 14, 2013 6:19 pm Gee the builders are firing. I'll head out on weekend to get some more pics. blog updated with some photos from yesterday. Have to decide on upper level flooring over the weekend. If anyone has any experience with Europlank engineered boards we are tossing up between the midi and the standard. midi has a 2mm hardwood wear layer, standard a 4mm. Our main question is how long between sanding and refinishing is required as obviously the 4mm can take at least 2 standing and refinishings where as the 2mm can only take one........ Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Upper Level 26Jun 18, 2013 9:38 pm Upper level taking shape. Pic's on blog http://enviroarchbeachhouse.blogspot.co ... aming.html The builder is so thorough, I've been very impressed so far. Everytime I vist when they are there (which is always unannounced) they are always powering away full tilt. But now we're running short of time to make decisions. Have to start choosing colours for inside and oustide and kitchen, and flooring, tossing up between Europlank Midi and Europlank. Thinking about the midi to save money. It's got a 2mm hardwood oak wear layer, we're hoping to get a few decades out of it. But no experience with this sort of material so any advice welcomed. So far we've picked "Windspray" for colorbond roof colour. Need to decide between matt or gloss white for kitchen cupoards?? Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Upper Level 27Jun 18, 2013 10:09 pm house is looking amazing with the kitchen my choice would be gloss Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Upper Level 28Jun 19, 2013 11:31 am Things are looking great, and it must be pretty exciting to see the house taking shape. I live around there, and the only complaint I have is that the site fencing is not see through, so I can't have a stickybeek through the fence when I walk past!!! haha. At least you've got photos though. Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Upper Level 29Jun 19, 2013 6:24 pm Cheers guys, We locked in Windspray for roof this arvo... very nevrous as it was our first colour choice! Hope we get the rest OK. Not that it worries me too much as I'm colourblind! But with the added pressure of Art keeping an eye on the place we'll have to make sure it's up to the local standards! Bit of rain around for a couple of days, bugger. Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Roof, roof roof roof! 30Jun 29, 2013 12:13 pm http://enviroarchbeachhouse.blogspot.co ... ramed.html Got most of the roofing done this week. We've had miserable weather here but fortunately the crew work through most days, just stopping if it's dangerous and timing their breaks with showers so actually no really slow down at all. Starting to lock in colour selections....Polytec "Class White Matt" for kitchen, although we're going to look at a black panel for the barback of island bench. Tossing up gloss or matt blacks for that one. Picking carpets this week - any tips? Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Roof, roof roof roof! 31Jul 04, 2013 9:17 pm Looking great animal. Will you have views from your balcony. Seems like there has been a bit of rain over there . Hoping it doesn't slow things down too much. Wind spray roof will look lovely. Can't wait tosee your colorbond moment With carpet I think it just comes down to personal taste. I just hate plush pile so always go for a loop, but some people love it and there are so many patterns out there now. I also just love wool carpet and so does hubby so that's what we are having but my mum has a solution dyed nylon which is just lovely and larger range of colours than wool. Good luck with your choice Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" FRAMED - Roof, roof roof roof! 32Jul 04, 2013 9:25 pm Cheers Charnley, Yeah we got a bit of rain, and a bit of erosion of rear garage foundation (yet to slab that bit). But the workers haven't been slowed too much, they've been doing stuff undercover like preping the hardwood beams and decking. We struck some luck with the carpets, we found two wool loop carpets we really liked in the end of roll stacks. It's ridiculously cheap for top quality carpet. We are fortunate we are only carpeting the bedrooms and we're happy for our room to have different carpet to other two. Upstairs is Europlank and downstairs polished concrete except bedrooms/bathrooms. Will hopefully get out and take some more pics this weekend, but with all the scaffolding up it's doesn't look the best! Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" slow week, selection week 33Jul 07, 2013 8:10 pm Not much to report on this week. Updated blog with nice picture of front deck http://enviroarchbeachhouse.blogspot.com.au/ Made a heap of selections, kitchen appliances - tick, carpet - tick, garage door and roof colour - tick (Colorbond Windspray), still not sure on exterior or interior wall colours. We really want a combo of dark/charcoal grey and light grey- but don't want any blue/purple tones in them, nor any browns, just grey. Any suggestions? Re: Enviroarch "Beach House" slow week, selection week 35Jul 13, 2013 11:53 pm No probs, Will send a pm. Re: Custom Enviroarch "Beach House" Full Speed Ahead 36Jul 24, 2013 5:30 pm Well it's full speed ahead on site. We're struggling to keep up with photos as most of our visits have been when it's too dark to take shots. Have updated blog http://enviroarchbeachhouse.blogspot.co ... ahead.html Heaps of workers on site this week, making a stack of progress. Makes us a bit nervous as now lots of things are locked in and we hope we've gotten everything right. Joinery getting ordered this week too... yikes. Re: Custom Enviroarch "Beach House" PANIC STATIONS 37Jul 28, 2013 8:41 pm We've reached the point of panic..... Wondering if we've chosen everything and put everything in the right place. We're beyond modification for some items. Electrical meeting this week, anything I should check for? Re: Custom Enviroarch "Beach House" PANIC STATIONS 40Jul 30, 2013 10:51 am electrical - are you getting data as well? How many power points in each room? have a think about what you currently use (appliances, lamps, TV, computers etc), position furniture in your plan to check that things are in the right spot. Do you want any off-peak tariffs (hot water, air conditioners)? Don't forget external lights and power points too. Try not to stress too much... I have heard from a number of people that there is always something you want to change, no matter how long or hard you think about it beforehand.
