We are in the country so I think that makes a difference, on our last build in Perth tradies would work intermitantly at the house it was so frustrating. Kazzbah Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 22Jan 31, 2013 12:15 pm Our current house took one week (4-6 brickies). Ive since learned this isn't common so preparing myself to wait 3-4 weeks Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 23Feb 01, 2013 10:46 am Kazzbah........ w-o-w. Yours house looks huge and in 12 days. w-o-w. Our brickwork is "scheduled" to start 05/03/13 they have allowed approx 15 days to complete. I am worried we have used too much white in the house do you think thats possible..?.. We discovered also that Black can be harder to keep clean then white. Can i ask you what area of the country you are building. that view looks beautiful. me - very very green with envy. Cheers Chelle xxoo Hi Chelle we are building in Geraldton, we absolutley love the block looking forward to sitting in our alfresco enjoying some spectacular sunsets with a wine and beer haha. White never dates and yes the black can be difficult for streaks my breakfast bar is 940mm with waterfall end and I struggled to reach over a 900mm benchtop in my previous house not sure if you can see my previous build on last build thread with switch homes so you can check it out. A plumber that I spoke to on my last house said that the colours I picked there were good being neutral, so easy to live with and won't date in time to come I didn't have such a big selection as Perth for this house but overall I'm very happy with the colours I have chosen. Best wishes for you when you begin construction of your home it is very exciting. Cheers Kazzbah Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 25Jun 07, 2013 7:34 pm Have been absent for a long while house has slowed down so much, trying so hard to stay positive. Have some photos to bring everyone up to speed. House has been fully rendered a few areas a bit rough, cabinets are in and tops installed finally tiling underway but estimator has not ordered sufficient tiles so waiting on more to come from Perth so another hold up. We want this house before the end of July as I have to go away for a few weeks in August so need to organize things for while I'm away. Kazzbah Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 30Jun 23, 2013 9:04 pm Hi kazz. Nice plan and nice insides. Could you provide a timeline of important steps. Prestart siteworks slab etc. They certainly are dragging their feet aren't they. We were told that there is only an issue with bricklayers. This makes me nervous now. Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 31Jun 23, 2013 10:02 pm I'm thinking the same thing rex, we have been hit with the dreaded bricklayer shortage, site should be ready for brickies end of this week, beginning on next, but our CLO mentioned the shortage so I guess that means it ain't going to happen!!! I don't want to worry about other delays too! building with Redink Prestart 21/3/13 Slab down 12/6/13 Brickwork started 5/8/13 Brickwork finished 26/8/13 Roof frame 6/9/13 Colorbond 26/9/13 Grey float 11/10/13 white set 17/10/13 Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 32Jun 23, 2013 10:04 pm No don't worry rex777 we are building in the country not Perth and by the sound of Munchy's build you should be okay. I did my prestart in Sept last year slab was poured around the 30th Nov and bricking commenced around 8th Jan have just got bogged down by a few issues but hopefully all will start to come good this week onwards. Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 33Jun 25, 2013 2:10 pm it's looking great! love the big alfresco at the back Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 34Aug 09, 2013 7:57 pm Hey Kazzbah, how is the house coming along???? The work begins will post some pictures soon, Redink here present the homes really great at the end stage very impressed. Kazzbah Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 37Sep 15, 2013 10:48 am Cant wait to see some photos goodluck with it all painting the house is a big job (I remember clearly from current house) Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 38Sep 15, 2013 7:46 pm Gee kazzbah that is a long time between slab and handover. Can I ask why it has taken so long? Is it a country thing? You should have moved in in June not September. Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 39Sep 15, 2013 8:07 pm Hey rex777, yes it is a long time we were not happy one little bit about the build time, but what can you do you have signed a contract they never actually give you a completion date and the contract allows it to be dragged out to there build time based on worst case scenario about 282 working days, so there you have it. We are quite happy with our home much better than the previous we think at this stage so all good so far. Yes other builders up here complete there homes far quicker but in saying that we have got a hell of a lot of house for our $$$$. Kazzbah Re: Kazzbah's Redink build 40Sep 15, 2013 8:16 pm LeanneR Cant wait to see some photos goodluck with it all painting the house is a big job (I remember clearly from current house) Yes it sure is a big job did not want to go down the painting road again but can't justify the money to have it painted so have to suck it up, we are doing the fencing ourselves as well, went to Perth twice to purchase fencing and then went down on Friday and came back last night with a lounge suite and outdoor setting weather was horrendous for the whole trip. But pretty much all our shopping is done for now just finishing our part before the tiler comes in and then carpet and then we can move in properly . Cheers Kazzbah Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17507 thank you! do we need to get this or our builder before we commence new build on the block? 2 10261 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9559 |
