Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 27, 2013 8:39 am Many people still don't understand why you should have pre plaster inspection or whether it is worth spending around $500 to have one. Even our building control system does not require one and I think it's criminal negligence from our regulators because it allows framing defects and defective fire separation walls (in units) to be covered up. Here are my reasons: 1 A chance to verify that any framing defects discovered during framing inspection have been adequately addressed. 2 To verify that no building elements have been damaged by other trades, I often find damaged bracing and hacked beams. 3 To ensure walls have been straightened properly 4 To verify services rough in 5 To verify wet areas preparations There is a lot to look at and many things can go wrong and unless you are trained and experienced to spot defects there is a good chance you will miss some. Copper piping not insulated from other metals and a host of other little things. And I thought I had an eagle eye! How will you know its wrong if you dont know whats right. I pays to use a professional. It cetainly saved me headache and money down the track! Masterton Symphony MBTF @ The Ponds 2012 Mar. Commencement May. Plans Jun. Contracts Aug. Selections Sep. DA Oct.
