Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 26, 2013 10:25 am I have signed with Nostra Homes to build the AVOCA with double garage http://www.nostrahomes.com.au/images/ga ... /AVOCA.jpg So far they seem good value compared to other builders. I have put my $2,000 deposit and waiting for the next step. As there is very little mention of Nostra on the internet I thought I would share my experiences with them. If anyone else has build with Nostra, I would like to hear from you. Re: Nostra Homes 4Nov 25, 2013 2:11 pm that is a long time! We just bought some land at the new PEET Aitken Aspect in Greenvale. Nostra is still on the cards, but 10 months is a long time to wait for approval. We'd be interested to know how it all goes. Good luck. Re: Nostra Homes 5Feb 08, 2014 1:02 pm Hi! We are looking at builders to build our dream home. One of the builders that we are considering is Nostra homes. It seems that some of you had chosen them and built there homes a year ago. I was wondering how it all went. For some that has not started or having issues can you also give some feedback. Re: Nostra Homes 6Jan 12, 2015 1:03 pm *Ping* Was there any progression with any of you building with Nostra Homes? I would like to know what type of feedback customers have regarding this builder. Thanks Re: Nostra Homes 9Jun 15, 2015 8:43 pm We didn't end up building with Nostra as we've opted to do owner builder in the end. But in our estate, Aspect Greenvale, Nostra have built the town houses at the entrance, I think they're called Destino, and they look pretty impressive. Good luck everyone with your builds Re: Nostra Homes 11Sep 06, 2015 8:06 pm I'm also planning to build with Nostra. Please share your experiences.. @rabs.. where abouts you are planning to construct ??? Re: Nostra Homes 12Sep 07, 2015 4:45 pm Hi Ragaganesh, We are building in Hillside, slab should be down this week. It's quite frustrating that there isn't a great deal of feedback with Nostra. A lot of people have shared progress on this forum but then they seem to disappear. To get to the build stage wasn't too hard. I went to a few banks to discuss home loans and then spoke to there broker. He offered better deals so I started to deal with him. He however was very slack and never got back to us promptly. I ended up going with another broker who was recommended by a friend. After we got through that, the conveyancer they supplied was also a little slow but we got there in the end. I found the additional cost items all quite fair, we ended up spending another 15k roughly on upgrades and then another 2k in the colour selection room. The other additional cost I've had to pay is $600 to get the power connected on site. Apparantly this is in the building contract but I can't remember seeing it. Hard to post a proper review until my house is built...they have estimated that it'll probably take 4 months. With the Christmas break coming I'm hoping we'll be moved in around Feb. Re: Nostra Homes 13Sep 23, 2015 1:47 am Hi rabs82, Did you hire an Independent Inspector for defects? Slab on mine is due to come down on Wednesday unless it rains. Curious to know the soil type of your land, and if there’s a need of slab upgrade to class ‘S.’ My Inspector keeps me up to date. The building supervisor didn’t even know site cost is already paid. He was going to charge me to have the pile of rocks clear. Following day it’s gone. My total upgrade is just under 21k. Nostra Homes standards lack varieties, but in saying that; I’m a first home buyer, and don’t what other builder’s offers. Re: Nostra Homes 14Nov 30, 2015 1:04 pm Did anyone end up upgrading bricks with Nostra. $2500 from Cat-1 to Cat-2 .. Seems to be the highest when compared with any builder. Cat-1 only 5 models which are very poor.. Re: Nostra Homes 16Jan 05, 2016 9:26 am Hi, Can you please advise if you have to upgrade the bricks, if so what was the price quoted. Also whereabouts you are building. Re: Nostra Homes 17Jan 05, 2016 11:48 pm No I didn't (sorry I should've mentioned it on my previous post) I was going to upgrade the bricks but decided to upgrade the kitchen and bathroom instead. The quote was: Bricks $2700 - Mortar $800 I'm having my house built in Greenvale Gardens. You? Re: Nostra Homes 18Jan 06, 2016 12:44 pm Im building at Plumpton.Howzz your build going at the moment. What model and facade you going with. Upgrades costing me arm n leg at the moment. Some.items sell less for retail whereas nostra is charging me hefty.... Re: Nostra Homes 19Jan 06, 2016 3:33 pm Do your research for items that you think you can get done later for a cheaper price. For example Nostra quoted us $800 to paint one room a different colour to the others, I did it myself for $200 including all materials. The painters used by Nostra came by a few weeks ago for touch ups so I asked them how much they would have charged me if I would have got them to do it, they said $400. So essentially I did get it done through Nostra, they would have made at least $400. Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74688 I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending.
