I think it was one of the cheaper upgrades for the bricks. Standard bricks just didn;t do it for us. Hey Skyler, it's 3m long and 1.2m wide. initially we had it as 0.9m wide, but wanted a bit of space so the children can eat on the bench. Cheers! given the length of the bench, another slab of stone had to be purchased. So it was the cost of the extra slab. Off the top of my head I think it was around the $1,800 mark. Re: Experience with Sett Homes 128May 09, 2014 5:15 pm We're still waiting for land registration, happening 'late this year' according to our builder. But we have already done our external colors selection in Feb before I went on maternity leave. Still a long way for us. skyler *o* Re: Experience with Sett Homes 132Jun 19, 2014 3:29 pm Hi, I secured a block of land at Bardia (Edmondson Park) and looking for a builder, one of my friend recommended Sett Homes, i had a chat with them and they quoted $1150/sqm. Does anyone know if that's a good rate. I'm yet to shop around, but would like to know if anyone would know the costing of building. Any help on this would be great. thanks Re: Experience with Sett Homes 133Jun 19, 2014 4:29 pm Hello Sprint1, Congratulations on securing your block of land. Most of us here who have used Sett Homes are happy with their service and we chose them after concluding that they were good for any number of reasons. At the same time there are others who have gone with other project builders because their personal research indicated that they were good for their own reasons. The way I went about it is that try to get a quote from different builders for the same configuration, same inclusions and see how much it comes to. Then this will be more of a apples with apples comparison. If you just go with a high level sq m cost, a builder who is cheaper may not mean that they are giving the same kind of service as the other. You might find that the cheaper one is actually more expensive after including everything that the expensive guy is offering. Good luck with everything. Maverick Re: Experience with Sett Homes 134Jun 20, 2014 11:47 am As Maverick said, it all depends on the inclusions allowed for in the tender. One tender may be cheaper, but may not have the inclusions as the second tender that is more expensive. With Sett it may be slightly more expensive, depending on your circumstances, but the extra you pay is for the service and the personal experience you get rather than being just another number in the queue like you get with a lot of project builders. Also, don't be fooled by the sales people at the display homes. All they are interested in is to get your $1,000 or more for them to put together a tender for you and they will promise you the world and suck up to you. Once you pay that $1,000+ and you receive the tender, they don't care about you. You ask them questions and they tell you to talk to the customer service person looking after your project. With Sett you are dealing directly with Joe who is the owner of the company. You tell him what you want and he makes sure it gets done, without having to go through 2 or 3 hands before someone even looks at your request. Hope this helps and good luck with your build. PS/- Just an update on our build, we moved in last week and everything has been real hectic trying to move stuff and sort things out. But really loving the new house. Obviously a few little things to get sorted out with Sett, which is expected with any build, but they have been pretty good in getting people in to fix things. The new site supervisor, Jeff, has been really good and helpful. Re: Experience with Sett Homes 135Jun 20, 2014 11:58 am Congratulations on moving in Mikeann. We have been in for 2 months now. I understand now that the expenses don't end with just moving in Have fun!! Cheers, Maverick Re: Experience with Sett Homes 136Jun 20, 2014 12:04 pm Hahahaha... I know what you mean. We're still waiting on the blinds to come, but in the meantime we have paper and old curtains up around the house. Then there's the furniture! We have had problems with Snooze in Prospect and have been waiting for the kids beds (3 beds, mattresses and bedsides) for 3 weeks as the guy that owned the franchise ran off with the money and now Snooze themselves are running the store and everything is a mess! There's been a lot of abusive phone calls to them during this past 3 weeks! We still don't know when the beds will be delivered, while in the meantime the 2 of the kids are sleeping on the floor on old mattresses and the 3rd kid is sleeping on an air mattress used for camping! Re: Experience with Sett Homes 139Jun 30, 2014 4:39 pm Thanks Shash. Generally everything has been great. Just a few little things, but nothing major. With all the moving and unpacking, haven't had time to take any pics. Just waiting on some of the blinds, so when they go up I will take photos around the house and post them up. How's your build going? Did you end up going with Sett? Re: Experience with Sett Homes 140Jul 02, 2014 12:38 pm Hi Mikeann, Yeah mate no rush i can understand you must be very busy with all those things happening at the same time, our land does not register until early next year, unfortunately landcom is not giving any fixed date as such and surprisingly joe has not given us a quote either its been almost three months ,we are looking at other builders as well but nothing has been decided as of now Last year, 50% of their staffs left. Is it going be bankruptcy this year? 10 31048 Yes, i hace signed build contract and currently awaiting colour selection appointment. 2 29399 I apologise for any confusion, but your understanding is correct.
