Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 24, 2013 7:23 am Hi I am building a new home. I am looking at buying a neutral white tiles to do the en suite and the second bathroom. We are thinking not doing feature tile. we are keeping it all the same because we have granite bench top. and to keep it simple. It just gives you more option in the future. The height ceiling is 2700. so i am not sure if i should tile all the way to the ceiling or the other option is 2100 all the way around the room. The laundry and two single room toilet i am thinking just tiling the floor. I don't know the trend these days. Look forward to advice. thank you paula Re: Bathroom Tiling 2Jan 24, 2013 7:48 am in the main bathroom i am tiling to the top as i think it looks so much better. but in the ensuites i am just doing normal tiles. so really it is how you would like to have the tiles Re: Bathroom Tiling 3Jan 24, 2013 8:36 am I am doing full tiling in just the shower and then the standard for the rest of the bathroom and ensuite in my build. However, in my current house I went full tiling for bathroom walls when we renovated. Re: Bathroom Tiling 4Jan 25, 2013 11:10 pm Thank you for your respond. How did you bathroom look? what size what your tile? do you have pictures? my tiles is 300x 600 for floor and walls. Because they are bigger tiles i am worried that it won't look right not tiled to the ceiling. Thanks paula Re: Bathroom Tiling 5Jan 26, 2013 12:27 pm Hey there, We are doing full tiling in our huge ensuite and in the bath/shower area of our main bathroom (3 way). I think it looks more complete. From what I gather from friends doing renos etc, the trend is for as plain as possible for tiling and using pops of colour with decorating. Just like the horizontal border tiles scream 90's, the vertical mosaic tiles will scream 'noughties' in 10 years time. You certainly have features. it sounds good.. when i went to look at tiles. they told me to keep it simple and not put any features. which i thought was different. normally they are trying to sell you things. my husband picked a white porcelain tile 300x600 and he wanted to tile 2.1 around the room. what i wanted was a different story. i am happy with the tile but i did want nice black feature and tile to the ceiling. he has won the argument. no feature tile so it will be white around the room and 2.1 around the room. BUT i am going to push for the ceiling.. see what happens... the best part about the scheme is we can introduce any color in the bathroom with accessories. and we will have nice black granite for the bench top with semi recessed sink & freestanding bath so it will look good & simple.. Good luck with your project. it sounds amazing. paula Re: Bathroom Tiling 8Jan 26, 2013 3:30 pm We're tiling to ceiling and keeping it simple - and neutral colours.
