Lol, we are having a bit of a race as we both want to be the first to have our birthdays in the house, his is in August We have a few things to get done before we move in though, like alarm, flooring, blinds. I did ask if we can get this done before we get the keys (between PCI and handover), but I should have known the answer would be no, fair enough I guess. But it just means we probably wont get in until July by the time all of that is done. I'll be so imaptient at that stage, knowing its all ours but not being able to live in it for a while We will know what we want though, and CLO said she would give us a date for keys so that we can book everything in as soon after that as we like. Has anyone been able to get anything like this done before handover? I have heard if you go through the SS they sometimes give you a few days... Mar 11th- Roof started Re: Our Gemmill Home 26Feb 01, 2013 12:30 pm So we had a call from our nominated builder (friend of the family), to say Gemmill only told him yesterday that building was ready to commence next week. And of course he is right in the middle of a job. So Gemmill have told us we can either wait 2-3 more weeks for our builder to be ready or use theirs. We have decided to sit tight and wait for our brickie...but means handover will more than likely not be in June now like we were told Mind you, they did say once we have a definite start date that the SS will start arranging the roofing guys to come in asap once bricks are up, I'm hoping they can make up the extra 2 weeks somewhere. I know its not a lot of time, but its just seems like its going to be a verrrryyy loonnnggg build Ok rant over Building Gemmill's 'The Gallery' Full Timeline On Page 1 Jan 16th - block cleared and compacted Jan 24th - SLABBED!!! I think I just got it in my head that brickies would start next week like they were meant to. But you're right, once they do start I'm sure we will see changes every day, then the excitement can begin Building Gemmill's 'The Gallery' Full Timeline On Page 1 Jan 16th - block cleared and compacted Jan 24th - SLABBED!!! You must be so so excited!!! I'm excited for you. Doesnt it look so different once window frames etc are in when are you expecting things to be getting close to handover stage? Just been on the phone to other half and our brickie is expecting to start on ours at the latest 21st Feb, (hopefully sooner). I didnt relaise that him and his team would be building rather than gemmills team, I thought it was just that one brickie along with gemmill guys. So at least we can call him to see how things are going, he lives local so said he will be working weekend, that could well save us some time for sure Building Gemmill's 'The Gallery' Full Timeline On Page 1 Jan 16th - block cleared and compacted Jan 24th - SLABBED!!! It was going to push us back by another 5 weeks trying to re-arrange roofies etc, and our chosen builder couldnt confirm his current job would definitely be done in 3 weeks time. So brickies will start this Wednesday. I'm so nervous now though, I hope we're doing the right thing, have you had any issues at all with the builders or quality of work? Mar 11th- Roof started Re: Our Gemmill Home 33Feb 01, 2013 6:06 pm We are extremely impressed by the brickies work Our entire house is being rendered so I was expecting the external brickwork to be a bit slap dash but it is surprising neat, so much so, that with a bit of a clean it could almost pass as face brick!! You won't have the same team as us because each SS has his own group of teams that are based the in the area they work in (that's what I've been told anyway) but I'm sure all their teams are great. I think one of the main reasons we were nominating a builder was because we knew him and his work, but he's not the only great builder. And by the look of your pics gemmills teams must be fantastic too ok drama settled, we will be making the call Monday for bricked to start Wednesday...pics will follow soon I'm sure thanks again SB xx Building Gemmill's 'The Gallery' Full Timeline On Page 1 Jan 16th - block cleared and compacted Jan 24th - SLABBED!!!
