This is generally why most builders are very picky about who has access to the site and go to great lengths to secure the property.. But what did you do prior to the builder taking control? Did you take out public liability insurance? We did - there was about a 5 month lag between when we purchased the property before construction started. We mainly did this because our vacant block was in an established suburb and had a number of large trees on it - very accessible and if a branch fell on someone or someone or they hurt themselves. We didn't take out public liability when we built the first time (in a new estate) as the time between titles being released and builder commencing was negligible.
