Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 20, 2013 5:11 pm Hi all, We've had our roof tiles delivered a couple of days ago and have been told they will start being installed tomorrow. My question is about when do they, and how do they, install the sarking? Whilst the roof tiles have been delivered there is currently no sarking on site and this has me worried. I also think that the batons have been put up (I've posted a photo to show what I think are the batons, could somebody confirm this for me please) - but my understanding was that the sarking goes underneath the batons, between the roof trusts and the batons. Is this correct? And therefor do I need to be worried? It should go on under the roof battens. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Thanks for the confirmation. Will be on the phone tomorrow - can't imagine I'll have a very happy SS seeing the only fix would be tearing the battens up and redoing it all! The sarking must be taped at all joins under the batons or you will not get the thermal efficiencies from the sarking, it will defeat the purpose of having it done in the first place. Lucky you caught this early...would be a pain for the builder if the tiles were laid Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience. When they did my place I was worried they had missed the sarking but the batons had all just be cut and resting against some nails the had in the trusses. 2 Re: Sarking Installation Question 11Jan 21, 2013 7:13 am Dvestate turns out that is exactly what they have done - just spoke to our SS and sarking is being installed as I write this and the batons had only been cut to size and resting in place. Roof should be finished tomorrow. Phew! Huge sigh of relief. Thanks everyone for your help and info.
