There are so many builders in Canberra and I'm starting to become overwhelmed :S So far I've seen: Goldruby Inspired Ruiz construction Sublime constructions Erifa home What do think of those builders? Thank you so much in advance! Re: Builders in Canberra recommendation 2Jan 20, 2013 3:12 pm Ibby, What are you looking to build - project home, extension to existing house, energy efficient home....? Variegated Re: Builders in Canberra recommendation 5Jan 22, 2013 11:51 pm I don't know anything about builders in Canberra but a good idea is to ask the builders for some addresses of places they have built. Go check them out and if you're game go and ask the people what they think of the house, how they found the building process with that builder, would they recommend them etc. If the builder won't give you any addresses then that's a no and then it's just a matter of listening to people's experience. Even if they have only bought the house recently, were there any issues with the house itself? Was the pest and building inspection all good? I hope that helps. They have built a lot of house around ford and bonner. This is their new website http://www.synergybuilding.net.au Re: Builders in Canberra recommendation 7Jan 23, 2013 10:00 pm Lmille32, thanks for the advise. I have contacted Sublime and asked them if I can call the owners of the house who has built with them. They gave us 2 numbers and was quite pleased with their reviews. I might actually ask them for more reference for my peach of mind. Saravanm, why did you go with Synergy instead of Sublime? Re: Builders in Canberra recommendation 8Jan 28, 2013 3:35 pm Hi Ibby, sublime was much costlier in their build cost than Synergy and also i did visit a friend's house who had his house built thro Sublime and i didn't like their finish and their inclusion. Re: Builders in Canberra recommendation 11Nov 24, 2013 11:25 pm I recommend that you avoid any builder that is prepared to UNDERCUT to get your business. Speaking from experience the saying is true that "you get what you pay for". Before seeing a builder it is important to settle on what it is that you are looking to build. You should have an idea if you are looking to build a single or double storey, what size of dwelling you are after, what type of land that you are building on and your inclusions. All of these things may affect cost due to cost of materials or labour. It is also important to make sure that your site is properly supervised regularly by the builder and that the contractors are not left on their own to build. There are some shocking cases of builders not supervising their contractors and huge mistakes being made. One builder that I can recommend is J & F Homes - ask for Joe Perkovic. He is easy to talk to and his work is quite fast. The houses of his that I have seen are quite good and his standard inclusions are high end. Value for money. Hope this all helps. Let me know if you need any details about builders to avoid. I will be happy to name at least one that I have heard some shocking things about in particular. Re: Builders in Canberra recommendation 12Dec 10, 2013 1:42 pm When i first moved to Canberra a few years ago, i did not have the confidence to go engage a builder to get a custom home built. This notion in me has changed drastically since then and i thank my stars to have met Matthew Smith from Goldruby homes who has assisted me in doing it successfully time and time again. No matter how much planning one does before hand, once construction on your dream home has started, you always come up with ideas and changes that may not be big but mean the world to you. This is when one thinks, why didnt a choose a builder who is approachable, some one who cares to listen even after the contract has been signed. I highly recommend Goldruby homes due to their quality craftsmanship, affordable pricing, flexibility all along the building tenure and ability to complete the job on time. Their team is very approachable when it comes to meeting or contacting them along the construction period and keeping the process as transparent as possible. I have heard many stories from colleagues and acquaintances about builders offering jaw dropping prices and then later disapperaring after they have taken some progressive payments because they have gone financially bust. I have built with Goldruby homes during the Global financial crisis as well as during the period of the $21,000 first home owners grant but never had an issue where i have regretted my decision to sign up with them. I live in Franklin in one of their beautifully done up home, if anyone would like to drop by and have a look they are most welcome. I wish you all the best.
