Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 20, 2013 1:04 pm Hi everyone Have been reading on this forum for quite a while now and decided to start writing about our own build. We have been wanting to build for quite a while now and as we are in the country our choices are somewhat limited ! In June 2012 we decided to go with DFH and we are building the Hartley 322 with a few modifications. We finally got council approval this week and are waiting to hear from the SS regarding starting date for build . I still have not figured out how to post pictures so if anyone could help me that would be greatly appreciated ( I am not very technical so a step by step would be great ) Also I am not sure if I should be posting this in any particular folder/ topic ??? Cec1974 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62412 Re: A new build in the bush 2Jan 21, 2013 8:36 am Hi congrats we are with DFH also building the Hartley but 361 Posting pics I use photo bucket if you google that sign up then upload your pics once done copy and paste the code on here. We are at lock up stage but with the rather large Break over Christmas the progress had stopp as did most builds. Finally noticed the installed kitchen yesterday so far so good! Good luck Re: A new build in the bush 3Jan 21, 2013 9:54 am Hi our dream home, Thank you for that. I will upload some plans and color choices soon. Hopefully you will be at handover stage soon. I will upload some plans and color choices soon. Hopefully you will be at handover stage soon. How long has the actual build taken for you so far ? We started end of september and we just received our fix out invoice today which I'm in the middle of discussing as i believe a few things still need to be done before we pay it... The Christmas break took a lot of time up I think we would be nearly finished if it wasn't for the long break. Re: A new build in the bush 7Jan 25, 2013 12:39 pm oneness - thanks for the tip about the link, hoping I have got it right this time onewheel- we are in Narrandera in country NSW Our dream home- Thank you for the photo upload info. Hopefully not long for you guys now ! So this has been a very buzy week with work and family so sorry about the lack of updates. We met with SS today and he said they will start the leveling o the site next Wednesday and that the slab should be down before the 15th of February !! This is getting very exciting now !!! We are going away for the weekend but will try to get some photos up early next week !! In the meantime here is our color selection : Outside : Color bond roof gutters and windows and doors - Woodland grey Bricks : Escura smooth in Perl grey have chosen natural mortar with these and am not quite sure if we should go off white. If anyone has an input it would be greatly appreciated Walls : Hog bristle Floors : Spotted gum Kitchen benches : ceacar stone in Ocean foam kitchen cupboards: white in satin sheen Vanities : Doors in Pearl bisque and benchtops in ceacar stone Linen We still have not chosen tiles for the wet rooms but like the glossy look in 300 by 600 mm for the walls and the same tile in a matte 400 by 400 for the floors/skirting colourvise so far I am between a pale beige and a light grey any input would be welcome. We are also having a golden/beige carpet in the bedrooms but cannot remember the name of it ! Cec1974 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62412 Re: A new build in the bush 8Jan 25, 2013 1:17 pm We picked the same flooring spotted gum, when it's finally layed I will post some pics on "our Hartley build" can't wait to see it Re: A new build in the bush 9Jan 25, 2013 1:43 pm My pleasure Cec1974 - but lol still not quite right! I have been looking for images of our brick selection. As we live too far away from any displays or shops i have never seen the Escura smooth surface in pearl grey. Has anyone used this brick before or have any images of it ?? every image I see is different. I am worried it is going to be too light. Cec1974 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62412 Re: A new build in the bush 14May 13, 2013 11:11 pm zub13 That is so funny that you went to school with someone with that name ! The house is getting painted this week, the tiles are all done and looking great ! We are looking to get quotes for a cement walkway right around the house, hoping it will not be too expensive .... We are having our first walk through tomorrow and will hopefully be moving in in 3-4 weeks !! Cec1974 viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62412 Re: A new build in the bush 15May 14, 2013 3:42 am Hi cec1974 Just popped onto your thread to see what's what. If you wanted to post some pics I can explain in a bit more detail. Go into photobucket and sign up. Once you have, click 'upload' and browse your pc for pics. Once they're uploaded click on 'view library'. Once you see the pic you want in your library, click on it. Once you're on that photo, to the right hand side you'll see some links you can copy...click on the last link and it will turn yellow and say 'copied'. You then come back into your post in this forum and paste it in, and press 'submit'. And viola!! Hope that helps, but feel free to ask questions if still confused. It took me a while to get it! PS - I've given you this info purely to push you into putting up some pics for us!
