Rikster, what colour is the concrete?

Hi Southies,

The concrete colour is 'Raven' from Hanson's Kolormasta range.

The concrete was still wet in the pictures, thus it looks a lot darker. But it also needs to be sealed, so that should bring it back nearer to the wet colour.

Thanks for that Rikster. Just a questoin : why does concrete need to be sealed ? Is it not coloured all the way through?

I am a bit worry if you forgot to close the doors on raining days, the rain could cause severe damage to your brand new beautiful timber floor!

The garden is still a work in progress - we plan to get a retractable awning.

Which company's stones did you use for the retaining walls at the back and what colour is it? Looks a bit blue-greyish..

Hi Allan,
We used the 'Heathstone Grande' from Boral, in the charcoal colour.

Also, did you use a different capping for the steps?

We just used the Heathstone cappings

Yes, it is coloured through the concrete, but apparently, if you seal it, it is much less likely to fade. Even concrete with colour through it will fade on the surface.

sure - it's still drying now but it's looking markedly lighter. Concreter is sealing it Tuesday so will post picture before then.

at least your hand prints worked! Ours was too hard to take a handprint by the time we got to it

donuts - could you still scratch in initials and date? We may do this instead of the handprints, as our boys are now 13 & 15 and handprints aren't cool.

Judie, yes we did scratch in our names and the year, it took really well. Not DD's, she was only 3 weeks old and sleeping at the time...never wake a sleeping baby :roll:

. DS loved it though. Just the handprints were too soft for the hard cement! Unfortunately where we did it is now covered by the frame :roll:

It was a huge effort, but I think it was worth it. We adore living here now.

Your place is absolutely stunning! The jacaranda in flower just adds to it. Glad to hear that you're happy with it all.

BTW they scraped and leveled our block this week. Finally progress!

I'm still waiting on formal lounge photos - didn't you say you'd post them soon, some time ago??? I think I'm out of the loop - I might go back and re-read some of the more recent pages as I might have missed an update.

Outdoor photo is gorgeous. No offence to anyone else, but your house is my absolute favourite house I've ever seen (including mine)!
