Am I correct in saying that Sydney doesn't use a love of exposed ag? I thought someone on here said that?? It will look great in concrete with those feature pavers in it - nice touch. Paula Re: Riksters place - Kid's play area 442Oct 17, 2008 8:06 am ![]() Facade still gorgeous *sigh*! I would have to say that even though it's not my style your house looks abosutely stunning. The detail is beautiful. Re: Riksters place - Kid's play area 443Oct 17, 2008 8:43 am Mmmmm.....reinforcement....mmmm....p*rn for an engineer....need cold shower. You seem to have a good concreter as well...it's not often that you see bar chairs used on a residential driveway....usually they just pull the reo up from the bottom with a rake ![]() Rikster your house continues to amaze....I also note that judging from the quality of the photos someone has a decent camera and knows how to take a good internal photo.... Re: Riksters place - Kid's play area 444Oct 17, 2008 9:29 am Exciting concrete pics !!!

The company is Hayes Industries and the quality of there work is outstanding. They've been incredibly helpful with council too as we've had a few issues trying to pass the inspection (bloody council!). You seem to know what you're talking about to_do_list as up until yesterday I thought a 'bar chair' was something I sat on with a beer in my hand! ![]() Rikster your house continues to amaze....I also note that judging from the quality of the photos someone has a decent camera and knows how to take a good internal photo....: Thanks for the photograph compliment. I'm the photographer & have been learning for a while - I'm beginning to understand it all now. We are loving living in our new home ! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.p ... &start=315 Re: Riksters place - Kid's play area 446Oct 17, 2008 9:43 am ![]() We decided to go for a dark floor because it would seem wood ( feel free to correct me if you know better this is just my opinion) over time it gets lighter and more yellow. Over the short time we've had our floor it's already quite a bit lighter particularly near the stacker doors and where there is natural light. But you're right, in the photo's the floor doesn't look like Jarrah - That's just the photo. This is a classic example of how you should be careful copying our colours as they look different in life! I've heard that timber, especially Jarrah darken with age. But the lightness that you are beginning to see is most probably beaching from the sun. The sun is very harsh to timber floors and areas where it is constantly and direct in the sunlight will go lighter. Looks like the driveway is coming along nicely! Only us here can enjoy seeing this happen ![]() What an army of concreters! Glad to hear you're happy with them.. will take note for our future driveway! (although it will only probably be an 1/8 he size of yours). ![]() Re: Riksters place - Kid's play area 451Oct 17, 2008 8:31 pm Even more exciting driveway pictures...

We did the same at our very 1st house, many, many moons ago when our kids were little tykes as well. But we sold it & moved on ![]() Rikster, what colour is the concrete? Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Riksters place - Kid's play area 453Oct 17, 2008 9:30 pm Hey Rikster
Once that house is finished and you have a bit of time on your hands, if you ever want to venture into the world of film photography try Apug.org. They also have a hybrid site for those that are more digitally inclined called hybridphoto.com. Amazing forums with lots of great members who can pass on amazing information about photography. There's quite a few from Oz on there. Just don't mention digital in Apug. Re: Riksters place - Kid's play area 454Oct 17, 2008 10:40 pm Looks like the concreters knew what they were doing! Thanks for posting the company name - I'm filing it away for future reference. Love the foot & handprints. We thought about doing something similar in the garage.
Judie Re: Riksters place - Kid's play area 457Oct 18, 2008 9:53 pm Hi Riskter, You landscaper has done a great job! Which company's stones did you use for the retaining walls at the back and what colour is it? Looks a bit blue-greyish.. Also, did you use a different capping for the steps? May be too late, but I have this post here on my blog explaining the 2 different kind of cappings which we discovered accidentally (they sent the more stronger, expensive one by mistake). http://building-our-first-house.blogspo ... ate-5.html Re: Riksters place - Kid's play area 458Oct 18, 2008 9:56 pm ![]() Once down she wanted to touch everything so I had to leave the shop.
