I've been reading so much from different posts that I'm getting lost about who said what. So it's Boral Silkwood in Jarrah and both Rikster and Phoenix (Spotted Gum) have had troubles with how easily it scratches. However, Spoiltprincess (Sydney Blue Gum) has had no problem. I'm currently going with Boral Silkwood, but the mixed reports have got me worried (and result in me forgetting who said what!). I wonder if Boral have changed their finishing process or something. Also, it's a pity you can't (or can you?) lay a floating floor under a kitchen island. It sure would make it look nicer. Do you know what your builder is using and thicknesses (for both floorboards and plywood)? Rather than hijack Rikster's thread, I'll start a new thread on flooring options. What colour is it going to be? Plain cincrete, or exposed aggregate, or...??? Facade still gorgeous *sigh*! It's going to be plain concrete, but coloured through. Should match the gutters etc. We decided to go for plain, as it is a large area & we didn't want it to stand out too much & detract from the house. Glad you like the facade too, that's why we chose the house really. On the whole, yes we have been. There's been mistakes along the way, but they are always willing to admit mistakes & clear them up. They certainly do it all for you. Since Young's completed the house, we have been arranging all the other works ourselves & dealing with the council. Now I have realised how easy Young's make it all seem. I must say I'd rather eat a maggot sandwich than deal with the council again ! Your laundry looks better than our bathrooms ![]() Can't wait to see the driveway, we are looking at doing the same thing, but it will cost heaps as we have a very long driveway. Your Jarrah doesnt look as dark? Are you happy with the colour? We decided to go for a dark floor because it would seem wood ( feel free to correct me if you know better this is just my opinion) over time it gets lighter and more yellow. Over the short time we've had our floor it's already quite a bit lighter particularly near the stacker doors and where there is natural light. But you're right, in the photo's the floor doesn't look like Jarrah - That's just the photo. This is a classic example of how you should be careful copying our colours as they look different in life! Bet you can't wait to use the driveway?! The house looks even more stunning from the pic at the bottom of the drive.
And about Council? Well, we've just put an S96 in to move a sliding door and a window. Hopefully it will be approved before it gets to the maggot stage.
