Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Tas & Sim's Home (WA; 6171) 42May 17, 2013 6:28 pm PCI went great!!! Sorry I couldn't get on here earlier ... I should have taken some photos from the inside but I was too excited with checking everything out. I will get some next time I go to the house. Basically the entire house is 95% complete and they are just fixing up the last remaining touches and any items need repair over the next 2 weeks. We get the keys on May 30 and will likely be moving in the very next day. Laminate timber floorboards are all installed and look terrific. We even put them in the bedrooms so the house doesn't actually have any carpet, we'd much rather use rugs. Fly-screens were on all windows and the vertical blinds had been installed. Kitchen and bathrooms looked great - very happy with the colour choices we made. Things still remaining are the garage door and bathroom mirrors and shower glass. Intelligent Homes also have to come back out and finish their work with the cables. I've also been told the NBN is only a month away from our street. Minor fix-ups include the stained bricks which have to be cleaned, chips in the wall plaster where workers have accidentally bumped a bit out, a couple doors need to have final coating of paint, etc. Just odd bits that we identified. We were relieved to know that there will be two more inspections where we will be able to point out any odd findings. One on May 30 and another in 6 months time. We were very pleased with the work and would definitely recommend First Home Buyers Direct to anyone considering buying a home. They've been great! We just have to make sure the bank inspect the house before May 30 so that we get the keys on time! Submitted final stage payment request to the bank, awaiting valuation inspection. Fingers crossed for Keys on 30 May! Just purchased a 2.0kW solar package with True Value Solar so that should be installed sometime in July. Off to install the letterbox in a few hours. Exciting times! Can I ask what you paid for your solar tasl33m? We will be getting solar down the track too, have no idea on cost or what we need. PM me if you don't want post it. Happy moving...you will be in in no time!! Re: Tas & Sim's Home (WA; 6171) 45May 24, 2013 10:11 pm True Value Solar are doing a deal in the month of May its a 2.0kW system.with a 4.2kW inverter (meaning you can easily have panels added up to 4.2kW without having to get a better inverter) and a wireless monitor screen to check usage vs savings etc foe $2450 or there abouts. They charged a $500 deposit to book the price and will likely install in mid-July. There are a lot of deals going around, prices are going up in June/July My Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62282 Slab: 22/01/13 Brickwork: 13/02/13 Roof: 13/03/13 Lockup: 05/04/13 Handover: 30/05/13 Re: Tas & Sim's Home (WA; 6171) 47Jun 16, 2013 10:39 am Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We've moved in!!! its been a busy past few weeks but we got the keys on May 30th and moved in the very same evening. The house is still a bit of a mess with unpacked boxes all over the place. It will be at least a few more months I'd say until we clear out the garage and place everything where it should be. The excitement of moving into your home is a great feeling. I'm hoping everyone on this forum enjoys the experience as much as we have. The fencing went up about a week later and we were also lucky to have the NBN installed to our home. I'm still in the process of waiting for an installation date on solar panels from True Value Solar. The NBN is something I highly recommend everyone to look into. Forget about getting Telstra to install phone lines to your home if you can get the NBN it is cheaper, faster and a much better technology. There is no installation fee either for the connection and equipment. Some internal pics for all of you that were wondering what we've done inside ... I LOVE your flooring...can I ask what type/colour it is? Also did Intelligent Homes contact you directly to tell you when the NBN would be available in your area? As we went through our builder for I.H, I have no idea about all the NBN stuff. I do know that I.H forgot to put our points in when they were supposed to. Luckily we picked up on it early enough!! Congrats again Re: Tas & Sim's Home (WA; 6171) 49Jun 17, 2013 10:50 pm Thanks Belle22 The nbn.gov.au website lets you know, Intelligent Homes also notified me, and the NBN company also sent me a letter in the mail letting me know that my street was now ready to receive the NBN. The timber laminate flooring is wonderful. We are very happy with it throughout the house. It is Kaindl Loc "37503 Rivergum" and can be viewed here http://www.fda.net.au/products-page/lam ... -flooring/ NBN is actually cheaper than phone line & ADSL, so be sure to get onto it My Build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62282 Slab: 22/01/13 Brickwork: 13/02/13 Roof: 13/03/13 Lockup: 05/04/13 Handover: 30/05/13 Re: Tas & Sim's Home (WA; 6171) 50Jun 18, 2013 9:09 am Everything looks great! Glad to hear the good feedback about laminate flooring, we are doing the same Re: Tas & Sim's Home (WA; 6171) 51Jun 18, 2013 2:13 pm tasl33m NBN is actually cheaper than phone line & ADSL, so be sure to get onto it Unfortunately if your street isn't planned to get NBN the next year or so then you can probably forget about ever getting it. When the federal government changes later this year the NBN will be scrapped to save money.
