Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 14, 2013 11:25 am Hi all, first post from me... We're building a Porter Davis Queenstown 33, and have gone with the Spa option. One thing I'm finding quite challenging is the sheer lack of information from PD on specific models being used - nobody seems to know precisely what model of spa is included. Does anybody out there know what it might be? We're also fairly unhappy with the default kitchen appliances as specified - they seem extremely basic so we've asked for them to be upgraded to better models (CG905WXC cooktop, OE608TX oven, BFD9XP dishwasher). Any feedback on the Blanco appliances, suggestions on preferred models, etc? BTW, the sheer amount of information on this forum is fantastic. I've spent the last month reading through it all, trying to digest it, and realise these questions may have been asked before. If so, I apologise in advance... Re: Question on Porter Davis build - spa and appliances 2Jan 16, 2013 11:55 pm Hi Lurgen, We were going to build the Queenstown 33 but we ended up building the Kallara 33 as we wanted to see the house first from the standard floor plan on display somewhere, but the Queenstown 33 displays had heaps of changes making it hard for us to visualise.. but anyway enough about me! We had the same issues with the SPA Options, PD have a stock of 2 or 3 spas but not much on model/brand/etc, what we did find is that all their plumbing items are supplied by Reece and being in the Prestige range they are a bit more flexible with changes so you can try and request a particular model at tender. We actually requested a spa from the Decina series and had this included in our tender/contract. I suggest having a look through the Reece website, get your sales consultant to add it to your sales quotes as a note usually it says TBA next to it, and you should be able to get a price on it at Tender. In regards to Blanco, Blanco as a brand in general has quiet poor feedback; in fact if you search through the www. productreview .com.au website you will see a number of complaints. I would steer towards Bosch, ASKO, Mille, Smeg. In particular the Blanco dishwashers are very poor at washing dishes and very noisy, they are also very poor at water/energy efficiency. We didn't even bother to negotiate upgraded appliances, we are going to remove them as soon as we move in, they will go on ebay for someone else to purchase AS NEW, and we will go out and buy the most effient model / feedback and it will return a much longer trouble free life. Cooktops/Ovens have less of these issues as there are less moving parts and thus less that can go wrong with them. Re: Question on Porter Davis build - spa and appliances 3Jan 17, 2013 11:06 pm Thanks for the tip, we looked at the Kallara today but its not quite right for us. After talking to the display staff my dissatisfaction with PD is rising... I can't get hold of my SC or BC and am getting close to breaking point with them. If they'd just answer the phone or reply to email life would be far easier. HD We had that issue, and we were ready to walk away until we meet a really friendly sales consultant on the other side of town. I'd suggest going to a few different display locations if you can and see if you get along better with any of them. Its a long journey and you need to have a good relationship with the SC/BC/SS Re: Question on Porter Davis build - spa and appliances 5Jan 18, 2013 2:20 pm pdkallara33 We didn't even bother to negotiate upgraded appliances, we are going to remove them as soon as we move in, they will go on ebay for someone else to purchase AS NEW, and we will go out and buy the most effient model / feedback and it will return a much longer trouble free life. If you haven't started build yet, it may be worthwhile trying to negotiate not having PD install any of the appliances as you need to take into account the drilling of holes e.g. if you decide to go for a glass splashback in your kitchen, then you need to tell them where the mounting holes will need to go. Also, if you the included appliance is a freestanding cooktop and you prefer to go for an inbuilt look, then you need to factor in additional cabinetry. Also, regarding the spas and bath....I recall Hopetoun having some information (its not on display, you need to specifically ask for it) but I don't recall seeing specific brands/model numbers. There were pictures and details such as dimensions and functions etc. but not the brand/model number.... Re: Question on Porter Davis build - spa and appliances 6Feb 07, 2013 9:25 pm Hi There If you have signed on, you can ask you Hopetoun directly for any details of anything that you find in display houses or what is offered. I have found them very efficient and quick in getting back to you with responses. You just need to detail a house, what the location is and what suburb for the diplays. You should be able to ask them what the standard spa option is also. Hope that helps. Re: Question on Porter Davis build - spa and appliances 7Feb 11, 2013 3:15 pm The spa option for the Marina 41 lists the Decina Angelique 1495 corner spa. I think the oval spa you see on some plans (the Waldorf comes to mind) is the Decina Duo. Here is a direct link to their PDF 2013 catalogue: http://decina.com.au/wp-content/uploads ...
