Re: Fairhaven Homes - Covered outdoor area underway almost p 282Nov 28, 2013 1:53 pm Looks like more was done today in the covered outdoor area dropped by at lunch happy with how its looking... ready for paint! Don't know if there is meant to be trim around the bottom of all the boarding against the brickwork... hope so but it's looking good regardless! Looks like there is a painter there today! Hopefully drop by tonight on my way home and take a look. Will be interesting to see if anything was done yesterday when I was away. Looks like only one bloke. Re: Fairhaven Homes - Covered outdoor area underway almost p 285Dec 03, 2013 1:33 pm Painting!!!! Great news. Maybe having one person will result in a more consistent approach and finish. Re: Fairhaven Homes - Covered outdoor area underway almost p 286Dec 03, 2013 1:34 pm Might be the case Lucinda. Always interested to see how the process works! Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 287Dec 04, 2013 7:17 am Dropped in last night and took a look around the place. Looks really good. Whole house had the ceiling done and some parts of the house looked like it had two coats on the ceiling so looks good. Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 288Dec 09, 2013 10:16 am Dropped by over the weekend, its so hard not being able to take a look around inside! Whole house has now been given its first coat on the walls. I absolutely love the colour we have. You can see that it looks different depending on how much lights in the room. At night it will look darker, with natural light it is actually quite light. Really happy with it and it appears to be really well finished by their panter! We are hoping before Christmas to have tiles in and perhaps electrical fit off etc. I guess it depends how long their contractors are away for over Christmas but I think we're going to be last week of Jan or maybe first week or two of Feb. Started packing up our current house over the weekend. Lots to do before we settle on the 8th. Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 289Dec 09, 2013 11:14 pm Hi met! your build has been looking great! my wife and I have been reading through your blog for a while and we are building with fairhaven homes as well. we were just wondering how well did your color selections go in terms of informed choices? cheers! Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 290Dec 10, 2013 7:08 am Hey Dahon13, Great to see someone else going through the process too. What home are you building and what area? During the selections process we were doing it when they were setting up their new studio. We knew about 75% of what we wanted before we went in there but the rep was very helpful making sure everything else we picked on the day was going to work together. There was a good selection of base range bricks etc also. Probably took 3 to 4 hours total. I think the best thing you can do is take the time to go to every one of their display homes and see what benches they have, what colours, what taps, what sinks and mark those down. It makes it much much easier than trying to compare them in a showroom. We basically knew our paint and colour selections as we wanted the exact ones they had in the display. Same with cabinets etc. We were really happy to see the rep pull out a register of items in the displays and we just went through that list and copied out a lot. Believe me we cut a lot from the display but we knew what colours were going to look like having visited the Whistler a few times at different times of day in different light and even on wet days to compare. We were so happy with their displayed colours we just decided to go with what we knew. Happy to help anyway I can! Cheers, Met. Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 291Dec 10, 2013 7:29 am Hi Met, Its good to know you have had a good experience. We came prepared for our selection as well as we were booked months before, we had our list and list of questions to what we needed advice on. However, it was a not good experience i would say, it felt rushed, and we were quite disappointed as it appeared the consultant was not ready for us. We could not get proper advice , we could not get proper pricing ,it did not feel there was a consultant at all, considering their studio had already been set up. We had been through all thier display homes and had good experience with thier reps, sad to say, very disappointed with the selections and we thought it would the most exciting one. Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 292Dec 10, 2013 8:13 am Really disappointing to hear Dahon13. What sort of items didnt they have pricing on. I know a few items for us were 'ballpark' like third garage cost, our sheeted outdoor covered area (pictures above). They cleared much of that up at tender and if there was anything too expensive we just crossed it out at tender. Agree that would be a disappointing feeling too. Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 293Dec 10, 2013 8:56 am Forgot to tell you, we're building one of their new house designs, kiama 226 in cranbourne east. Sad to say, the rep didn't know simple item upgrade pricing like cabinetry, kitchen kick panels. We had a thorough list of what we wanted like carpet colors and paint colors from their display homes but seems the rep was dismissive of our questions and says just address this to your CRO. Oh well hopefully our paperwork and build will be smooth sailing. Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 294Dec 10, 2013 9:08 am Really nice floor plan. Hopefully things improve for you Dahon all I can say is if you have questions etc make sure you ask sooner rather than later. Our CRO has been really good in getting back to us in a reasonable time, 99% same day so hopefully you get the same! Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 295Dec 10, 2013 9:14 am I think it is similar for all builders. Each job is slightly different and anything that is not standard, such as cabinets, need to be quoted for the specific job. What they cost when the display home was done might not necessarily still be the cost now, and if you have made any changes that will affect the cost as well. The sales reps don't always know the costs, but they can usually ask a CRO to give an estimate which will probably be subject to a final quote so could be a bit more or a bit less. If you haven't yet signed, tell the rep. that you need to have estimates before you can make a final decision on whether to go ahead. Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 296Dec 10, 2013 9:16 am Good point Lucinda. I think from memory Fairhaven were able to give us ballpark figures during the colour meeting and the tender price was pretty close. Re: Fairhaven Homes - Paint underway... 299Dec 11, 2013 7:22 am Awesome surprise last night, dropped by on my way home and benchtops are installed! They look fantastic (through a window unfortunately). Looks like all stone is in bathrooms too which is awesome. Paint appears to just be the arcs that need to be done now. Looks so close but probably still really far away Re: Fairhaven Homes - Painting nearly done inside, we have s 300Dec 11, 2013 10:31 am Wow, congratulations on benchtops.
