We spent the weekend looking through display homes to ensure we were happy with the selections we have made with Fairhaven and we definitely are! Below is our electrical would be appreciatitve if people could take a look and see if we've made any faults! ELECTRICAL So today talking to my friend who is providing our home theatre items he picked up on something I'd totally missed, the ducted heating for the theatre is in EXACTLY the wrong spot, where the projector is planned to go! We've contacted our rep and waiting to hear back if they can move it to the theatre/meals wall of the theatre room. We've made a heap of changes to the electrical, the most expensive element being downlights. Though I know I could have it done after handover cheaper, I cant be bothered fixing up issues that may be caused from doing that such as repainting and touch ups. We've moved the 3 downlights from over the bench to in the walkway between the meals/family and kitchen area so after handover we can add 3 pendants over the main island bench. We've also put all 5 lights in kitchen on 1 circuit (was 2 for some reason) and made it a two way system so when we have kids the cant turn the lights on from the meals side of the kitchen where their bedrooms are. Take a look open to any feedback suggestions or changes! Or just ask questions! Thanks guys. Also how many do you have at each TV position? I would recommend at least 2 doubles anywhere you would put a tv (for the DVD player, HD recorder, Wii, playstation etc.) Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65498 Deposit 17/02/13 Contract 12/04 Slab 17/05 Roof 06/06 Bricks, Lockup and Fixing 04/07 PCI 22/08 Handover 29/08 Moved in 07/09! Re: Fairhaven Homes Whistler - Contact Day 11 July / Colours 77Jul 08, 2013 8:52 pm Each of the triangles are TV points, so we have 3. Main bedroom, lounge and theatre. I've got doubles there because they are standard, I have a family member who is a sparky and he will change these to 4's on handover so they're not too bad low priority I guess. We've also got ducted vacuuming which are the littel V's on the layout. There is also a kick vacuum in the kitchen also. Great points though Hamilton! Re: Fairhaven Homes Whistler - Contact Day 11 July / Colours 78Jul 09, 2013 11:40 am Had a call from our Rep, she says we should have plans and contracts tonight to look over before Thursdays meeting! Hope so! She picked up on a few things she wanted to question so its good to hear they're going through it as finely as we are. In particular they wanted to know if we wanted taller doors throughout the house because our bedroom ones are 2340 heigh to match the raised ceiling we have. The only doors we see it affecting visually are they garage, theatre and entry to rear hall, so we've opted to not change any to the taller height. Will mean we can put some sort of sign above the theatre maybe etc. Other than that looks like everything else is right! Anyone have tips for thursday and our contract meeting, or things we should be looking for when we get them tonight to look through? Any advice would be great! Re: Fairhaven Homes Whistler - Contact Day 11 July / Colours 79Jul 09, 2013 2:37 pm Metroid I have a family member who is a sparky and he will change these to 4's on handover so they're not too bad low priority I guess. Very jealous of the sparky relative, that would be handy! Metroid Anyone have tips for thursday and our contract meeting, or things we should be looking for when we get them tonight to look through? Any advice would be great! Read everything and then read it again. Make sure your colour selection sheets match your drawings. Compare your Contract to the HIA standard contract, if you are at all uneasy about something might be worth getting it checked out. You can always push back your contract signing if you need more time to understand the documents, do not let them tell you anything else! On our plans we found the most errors in the actual drawings, variations were not all noted. Also the electrical plan had a few errors. I prepared a list of questions and errors in the documents that I took with me to contract signing. (I stuck post its on the relevant pages as well ) Don't be afraid to ask questions and insist on answers before you sign. It took our contract lady 40 minutes to get answers to all our questions from upstairs at Carlisle. lol. We got our answers though and the WIR just the way I wanted it! Remember, this is pretty much the most important part of the build itself, so whilst its tempting to just get it over and done with, do not rush it. Also make sure your Contract has a clear start time and finish time (or a set build period). Eg. Ours had to be started within 28 days of the Contract signing, (assuming we did all our requirments) and then completed within a set amount of days (about 6 months). I know a couple who had to wait almost 2 years for their house to be built, because they did not check this and their builder was obviously a bit crappy. And . . .Good Luck! It gets very exciting once they actually start building!
