Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 11, 2013 12:02 pm Hi there, We are looking at building a two storey sarah or rivergum home. Preferably Sarah Homes as we like their designs a bit better! We currently live in a raised one storey rivergum home thats 10 years old, so we are aware that in summer they get incredibly hot and in winter incredibly cold and that the temperature only stays comfortable if you keep the air-con or fire place going! And we have been warned that building a two storey will be alot worse, particularly in the upper level. My question is for those who live in one, what their experience is with this?? How do you find the heat/cold stays in and out of your home? I would have thought that these days, better materials would be used to prevent this, and obviously paying the extra for a better insulation would also go a long way, which is something we would do. And how is the noise from outside or even from room to room? Our home that we're in at the moment seems like we're sleeping outside come night time - you can hear every little thing! Its not a very sound proof house! I'm guessing it would be the same with a newer Sarah home but just thought its worth asking incase what i said above, better materials are now used to prevent this. Thanks a bunch - just a bit unsure on what to do, as it would be such a shame to build a home that we're not comfortable in. Electrical just got back to me and said the most they can provide is a single power point on the Bedroom 1 side of that wall. After handover, your towel rail installer… 2 3849 Appreciate that Chippy.
