Hi
I wonder if there is anything i can do to change the illusion that the corner (between the two bay windows) is crooked.

I think you might find that when the window coverings and the room furnished you wont notice it. Re: Deceiving looks 3Apr 13, 2008 11:50 am What window dressing are you thinking of using?? ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Deceiving looks 5Apr 13, 2008 12:10 pm Curtains are a good idea; they can have a centre drop on the section of wall in the bay section.
Do you have an external photo of this window? What is above the windows themself…..it looks light, is that more window on the top of the bay section??? It also looks a bit crooked from outside. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee154/plsnoname/P2190164.jpg (the roof line/tiles is not straight, but they have not been fixed) Re: Deceiving looks 7Apr 13, 2008 12:35 pm Great, now I have the right angle.
Ok hang the curtains above the window frame. Now you can forgo some of your view by putting a drop in the centre of the bay, which will cut off view from both those bay windows. But this will help make the windows look balanced. If you use a vertical, do the same thing, have a drop in the centre of the bay. Best thing to do is have a chat to your window dressing supplier, see what they say. ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Deceiving looks 8Apr 13, 2008 5:54 pm I personally think it would look much better if the wall plaster was changed to remove the corner from the centre of the window and run it parrallel with the glass. In other words the gap between the widow and the wall was the same the whole way around. This way it would match the area below the window and make the roof line match the window. At the moment it kind of looks a little missmatched and draws attention to the corner. Just my opinion of course. Re: Deceiving looks 9Apr 13, 2008 11:11 pm Due to limitations caused by no eaves in the bits above the bay windows, you can't really do much about the 'boxing' at the top of each bay window, but I think one huge improvement would be to continue that thin strip of wall (between the 2 windows) up to the very top, so it will cover over that right angle corner - it would make it blend so much better. I've been racking my brains trying to work out why it looks a bit odd...and commodorenut has - to my eye - nailed it....here's a crude attempt at trying to feather out the corner.....unfortunately the shadows aren't quite right. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff2/mikeb1968/Image1-2.jpg The other thing that's distracting are the bits of paper which are off centre from the middle of the corner and that you can't see all of the left hand side bay...that may be effecting the sense of outofkilterness... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Deceiving looks 12Apr 14, 2008 9:38 am Quote: I think the illusion will disappear if you put a false bulkhead across the top, so that the wall appears the same at the top and bottom of the window in that corner. Perryr, I think thats a good point. I think this works the bestb Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 2551 |
