Extension to contra 21Jan 15, 2013 1:23 pm Builders have been fantastic so Far just this whole long Break Is so frustrating I think the last time anything was done was midDecember! we are housing little spiders all over the window sills called the SS yesterday who usually calls right back.. Didn't answer lol... Guess he's got nothing to tell me.. I'm expecting the kitchen and painting to start in the next fortnight fingers crossed hope we are in before Easter id hate for another few stagnant weeks to go by like this.. Re: Over the Xmas break, c'mon builders! Extension to contra 22Jan 15, 2013 1:46 pm spottie Its irritating isn't it - We have been over a few times to see if there is anything going on. So many tradies, but on everyone's site but ours Absolutely. The smart tradies would be racking up all the work they could get over this period to make up for when it's during other times in the year. In their defence though, all their suppliers also close down so it can make it difficult to get hold of materials they need. Over the break both the render and all internal painting was supposed to be done at my place. By last Friday they had only just started the internal painting, and the render hasn't been touched. Extension to contra 24Jan 15, 2013 5:05 pm personally I would rather them not rush any job and simply do the job properly rather than simply slab it all together. If a build in my books takes an extra month or two in my books is not a huge problem so long as the build quality is excellent, although this is always never the case. The build quality of a house is determined on how close an eye you keep on it. Re: Over the Xmas break, c'mon builders! Extension to contra 26Jan 15, 2013 7:20 pm Just because its been that way for years doesn't mean I have to like it lol! Just keep an eye on the build and raise any issues. Re: Over the Xmas break, c'mon builders! We already have a list of things to question/make sure get fixed so we are watching everything closely get those things sorted out asap, i had a building site supervisor that i had no faith in and actually fixed the issues myself as he was just a yes man but never actually did anything. I had 4 studs split and his fix was to tack on another off cut between the splits, floor joists were not properly secured, studd bracers were loose and needed nailing, just pathetic. Extension to contra 37Jan 15, 2013 9:42 pm spottie Oh dear! Thanks for the tip - I might shoot them an email now! ring youir site supervisor and organise a time to meet him onsite to go through the issues. and also fire off an email for records. My yes man simply said yes yes and when it actually came to fixing it the best one could expect was a patch fix nothing more. nothing like doing it yourself and hence why i just said stuff it and went on site and simply ripped out the stuff ups and fixed up the issues like new. took me about 2 weeks but i now know the build is quality not some half arsed attempt covered up with plaster. We are building with a very small family builder - we just generally contact the office if we want something. I'd be asking this then, very very very surprised you don't know who your SS is for your build. My next question to the company would be who is the one that is organising your build and then contact that person. Identify who is your main contact for information about your build in terms of updates and issues etc.. Re: Over the Xmas break, c'mon builders! Extension to contra 40Jan 15, 2013 11:13 pm Spottie, we are the same. We have liaised with the owners (husband and wife team) throughout the whole process, and have mob. numbers for both of them, so queries not answerable by the girls in the office go to them! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 16557 Hi, We have a single story MacDonald Jones house, on a waffle pod slab with steel frame.
