Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Land-told DOH or DLH Rental property being built next do 21Jan 08, 2013 12:25 pm Pretty sure in WA it is a requirement to let land overs know which blocks are owned by DOH. When a friend of mine bought in ellenbrook, back when it was first starting they showed here all the blocks owned by DOH. Though these days a block owned by DOH may also be used to provide a property to be purchased through shared equity. Wow - I was looking through the WA housing website and they are certainly doing some great stuff in regards to housing affordability. The Landport website actually lists some of the land DOH has for sale. Wish they had a similar program for people in QLD - rather than what I see as a welfare system. Unfortunately a few bad eggs spoil the reputation of many. The block of land that we are actually building on is ex housing commission - the house previously on it burnt down. As it was a government sale we picked if up for a steal (compared to other vacant blocks in the area) The area is going through a bit of an urban renewal - a few knock down rebuilds happening. QLD government is also selling off much of its housing commission stock. Turns out the house to the left of us is actually housing commission. Only found this out by ringing the council and asking for neighbors contact details to sort out the fencing. The tenants next door have been really good through the building process (better than the owner occupiers on the other side), house and yard is kept very neat, and on the times I have been at the property have not heard a peep out of them (except to say a friendly hello and talk about the area). So to tar all houso's with the same brush I think is unfair. Re: Land-told DOH or DLH Rental property being built next do 23Jan 08, 2013 9:52 pm I have good and bad news! good news is I am content and happy to let go of Block of land by the DOH - chances are it was probably something to not be concerned about but i can take the risk and i also have good news that i have another lot that could be of interest... its bigger and of course that means more expensive but right now whats $18k (ALOT since i have already clocked up a pretty penny on planned upgrades - extension to alfresco, garage and added Activity room...to be continued so that bad news as mentioned before more expensive land and is a corner block - well kind of corner, more corner by one of the laneway places and its on one of the main streets which I am a bit worried about but im happy with it - drove past it and it looks good and double confirmed no DOH rentals close by lol thanks H1 and helpful commenters - without you all i wouldnt have known what to think... i will no doubt need your help again soon you are all amazing! My garage door has started playing up recently. Sometimes (and getting more frequent) when I press the button to open it, it wont. The motor is an ATA GD0-6V3. Red and… 0 2674 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16008 |
