We have double strip in shower as well. We removed the strip from above the vanity to make it double in the shower, but when the tiler came in she put double in the shower and added the strip along the vanity as well. Score!! Look forward to see what you've done with kitchen layout Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done! :) 63May 18, 2013 11:36 pm You went with the two-tone kitchen!! Good choice. Everything looks really great. Fingers crossed that the costings are kind to you! Building with Dale Alcock Homes in Aveley Our thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=63880 And yes, my pants are indeed fancy. Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done! :) 64May 19, 2013 12:23 pm Thanks! Actually the kitchen is 90% white. Polar white silk cabinets and white stone Benchtop. The only darker contrast will be back of island bench where bar stools go and the glass splashback. Not looking forward to costing. I couldn't believe the upgraded handles are $40 each and we need about 20 in the kitchen alone and we aren't even doing handles on the overheads. Which handles did you go for? We asked for a lot to be costed up so will wait as see. Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done! :) 65May 19, 2013 12:47 pm These are e handles we picked in the kitchen. Having an all white kitchen we wanted handles that would be a bit of a feature. The largest one we have on pantry and pot draws and the middle one on the cupboards Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done! :) 66May 19, 2013 4:15 pm We are building with Dale Alcock and didn't like any of their kitchen handles so decided to source our own which they were ok with. $40 each is crazy. That doesn't sound right at all! Are you sure that's not for the whole kitchen? My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done! :) 67May 19, 2013 4:50 pm We paid $417 to upgraded our handles in kitchen (26 of them so bout $16 per handle) plus extra $399 to push magnetic levers on all overheads (13 of them so bout $30 each). Our kitchen is one area we spent most the money. We plan be in our house for a looooong time so we wanted kitchen to be exactly what we want From memory ours are something like this (the thin ones... gosh I really cant remember how thick they were haha). 316mm for pot drawers, 188mm for cupboards (4 of them) Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done! :) 68May 19, 2013 7:47 pm Im absolutely stunned by that! You can get very fancy handles online for less than $20each! I probably shouldnt admit this as they are probably going to sound very cheap, but i bought about 25 handles and 40 knobs for about $180 from sth africa! My only bargain buy for our house! I have a picture of them on my thread. Btw, was that upgrade from lifestyle to aspire or an upgrade from aspire? Tracyw - I am very interested to hear you we're able to supply your own with dales - are they going to install for you? We were told if we want to supply our own we would have to do all ourselves ie: drill holes etc . There were 3 boards of handles in the showroom, standard(lifestyle) board are included, next board are $20 per handle and 3rd board are $40 per handle. We like the long thin rectangular shaped ones (in a lot of their displays atm). There are no long handles on any of the other boards at all. Our pot drawers are about 1.1m long so in my opinion long handles are only option. We can go smaller for other kitchen cupboards $20 each and for the bathrooms. At the moment we have calculated over $700 just for handles and that's with none on the overheads! If anyone has any ideas where I could source good handles would love to know Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done! :) 70May 20, 2013 12:08 am We were told we just need to give them to the cabinet maker. Our SS just said the other day to be sure to drop them off there. Maybe they have changed the rules on this since we signed up last year? We had the aspire package with our house and I'm sure most of the handles were included. I cant remember there being 3 boards though? However, we are going for a more traditional look and the ones they had were all very modern. We also have very large pot drawers but are putting 2 small handles on each as I think it looks a little more country. Not sure how practical it's going to be. We are paying a huge amount to upgrade to the vinyl wrap cupboards so I was relieved to not have to spend so much on the handles. My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done! :) 71May 31, 2013 2:59 pm Well we seem to have hit our first hurdle! Delays now in the approvals process We have not been granted approval as yet by our land developer - Peet.Due to an oversight on our sales consultants part (his words) he did not realise that there was a small retaining wall on our side boundary where he had positioned our walk-in robe. This was discovered when estimating site works, so decided that they would need to cut 192mm into the retaining wall. They had a structural engineer provide a report saying all good. However as per "peets" building guidelines you are not allowed to alter any retaining walls. Our SC had requested a exemption/waiver and provided the structural engineers report. So last week SC sent through letter from Peet which he wanted us to sign from Peet granting the waiver as long as we(the buyer) basically sign unlimited liability if anything went wrong and any claims were made in the future by other landowners. When I said I was not happy signing this SC made out like I had nothing to worry about " a benign form" i was told.....We were pretty annoyed at how he clearly didnt have our best interests in mind! He has been fantastic until now so was quite dissapointed. Anyway we said we would not sign this waiver from Peet unless Dale Alcock would give us a similar agreement/guarantee that if claims were made against Peet/us they would fully reimburse us. I am sure nothing would ever happen and it would be structurally sound etc but signing something to accept liability like that i dont think is a good idea! Anyhow we have been advised that dales will give us a "variation" to our contract addressing Peet's letter but we have not received anything yet. So delays delays delays..... On a good note have signed our pre-start costings today so that has been finalised. I am really happy with all our choices! We ended up spending about $18k at pre-start but that was including electrical of $8k (downlights included) and driveway. We got a credit for all other paving to alfresco and verandah. We had included alot of upgrades in our orginial contract so hoped we wouldnt spend to much at pre-start. oh well... Will post some more pics of our pre-start choices soon Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done, now DELAYS!! 72May 31, 2013 3:15 pm That's really disappointing! Can't you find a solution that avoids any change to the retaining wall? I would pay a lot of attention to the variation content. You have to make sure Dale Alcock is really accepting the liability on your behalf no ifs, ands, or buts. Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done, now DELAYS!! 73May 31, 2013 11:06 pm I wouldn't be comfortable with that either, glad you are getting dales to put something in writing too. We got ours too this week. Exciting little milestone Re: Burns Build - DA floorplan feedback 78Jun 02, 2013 7:51 pm +Tbrown2012 Thanks for the comments - much appreciated. Love the bath and was a important requirement for me - love to soak in the tub! (hopefully one day will get a whole bath without kids walking in asking me for things)! We have used up alot of block - was determined to have a decent bit of garden space but the house just grew and grew ... oh well. fmac- good idea about minor robes, might ask about that. Hi TBrown also love your bath I'm with you...we put a 1670 spa with 12 jets in the ensuite...and a big lock on the bedroom door lol....so I can have a spa in piece this is my special timeout spot away from the kids lol Design by Greater Concept - modified version Evolution Court Build by Premiere Homes My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64854 Re: Burns Build-Dale Alcock Pre-start done, now DELAYS!! 79Jun 03, 2013 5:40 pm It's so disappointing to have a delay, but these things happen. Hopefully the variation from DAH will put your mind at ease. I wouldn't be comfortable accepting full liability either! We came in at $18k at pre start too (consultant forgot a few things which moved us up from $16k to $18k). Just think of how fabulous it'll all be once you're in and settled.
