I'm surprised you already have downpipes - I haven't seen mine yet. Yeah, there is a piece missing. I'm fairly sure that it was there previously, maybe not. They are definitely finished though. The reason I have downpipes is because my brick isn't rendered. They leave the downpipes off where render still needs to be done and install them later. If they say gutters are finished then perhaps they are blind? I'm sure they will have to come back and fix them. And you can certainly request they re position the downpipe so that it is straight. You wouldn't accept it from a trade you had hired, and you are paying the builder so ultimately if you are not happy with it, and I wouldn't be, then you have every right to have it straightened. Haven't received an email or response back today. Will wait until tomorrow afternoon. Are you using an independant inspector? While I haven't used one yet, we are definitely planning on it at a few stages. I've got a few referrals and info that I'd be happy to PM you if you're interested. On the plus side, they are moving on and the hosue is really starting to come together. Power points are overated Re: Aveling-Harrisdale-Grey Float 326Mar 27, 2014 8:11 pm Same here. Maybe I'm a teensy bit OC? but stuff like that would drive me mad. Re: Aveling-Harrisdale-Grey Float 327Apr 01, 2014 10:53 pm Had a reply from CL today about my concerns. I've been assured the downpipes will be corrected when the roof plumber returns and that these issues would have been picked up. I seem to think they wouldn't have... But anyway! Ceilings were installed yesterday!! Despite only having 28c ceilings, it doesn't feel too small and pokey at this stage. That was a relief. I was a bit concerned. Now waiting on cornices/windows & white set! Power points are overated Hey ardie! I'm not using an inspector at this point. But I'm not ruling it out. Should anything else obvious arise, I'll definitely look into it. Haha. I know. I probably have so many power points 5 less would only be a good thing for my power bills! Could have had a holiday in Bali for that money. Maybe others are worth every cent Re: Aveling-Harrisdale-Grey Float 330Apr 11, 2014 7:41 pm White set was completed on Wednesday! Site was cleaned today. All looking pretty good. Happy with the job the plasterers have done with the white set. From what I can see it looks to be a really good finish, and no covered powerpoints! Still waiting on doors and windows. Hopefully lock up next week! I was very happy with our white set finish too, though inside has not been cleaned yet. Keeping fingers crossed for both our homes to be locked up next week My Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64881 Re: Aveling-Harrisdale-White Set complete 332Apr 11, 2014 8:38 pm Excellent news. Is covered powerpoints a common thing after all? Lol Re: Aveling-Harrisdale-White Set complete 334Apr 11, 2014 10:43 pm Looking good. My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Aveling-Harrisdale-White Set complete 336Apr 16, 2014 8:06 pm HOUSE IS AT LOCK UP!! Such a relief to have finally made this point. The finish line is now in sight! Its all becoming a little surreal. Cabinets are lined up for next week, I'd assume painting wouldn't be far off either. However I still have no ceilings in the alfresco or the portico. Theres been a bit of a mix up with the orders and who is suppose to be doing it. Bath has been delivered to site, and all internal doors and shelving also completed. Everything is still looking good! Quite impressed with the latest progress. Come In! Woohoo for lockup I think if I had the time again, I'd change the internals to something else. There's already a lot of things I would do differently if I had the time again! But I guess that's quite normal and how you end up serial building isn't it?!
