Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 07, 2014 3:15 pm Starting to try to organise our bamboo floors. So many colours! Do you think there are rules when you are trying to get different timber colours to go together? As in, floor colour, chair colours etc etc. Or do all timbers just go together because they are natural products? Re: Timber colours - what goes together? 2Jun 07, 2014 8:55 pm I have seen plenty of examples of different timbers looking great in the same space, but I do think it depends on the style of house and decoration. If you are worried about a particular set of furniture not matching the floor, then a rug, separating the two, can fix that. I think trying to match all timber can look dull and a bit "cabin-in-the-woods"! I suggest picking a floor that you love. http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: Timber colours - what goes together? 3Jun 08, 2014 12:00 am I think you definitely don't need to try to be all matchy matchy. Just pick what you love and it will look fantastic. Re: Timber colours - what goes together? 4Jun 08, 2014 7:57 am I definitely don't want to it to be too matchy. I love the cabin in the woods description. The furniture has a slight red tone to it during the day. Whereas the floor we really love has a slight yellow/brown tone. Re: Timber colours - what goes together? 5Jun 08, 2014 11:03 am You can break it up with upholstered chairs or a floor rug under the table. The different tones will be fine. People don't notice that sort of thing. The two woods are totally different. This isn't a great photo or comparison but this is one of our chairs and two photo samples of the bamboo we are looking at. We have a huge table, tv unit and buffet in the same wood. The wood colours are not so different compared to the Houzz photo. Of course it all changes at night too Re: Timber colours - what goes together? 9Jun 08, 2014 3:58 pm I don't think you've got anything to worry about there. Looks great together in the photo. Tiles look lovely too. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15924 Hey.
