We have been in our DAH home for 6 months now...and we are very happy with our quality build. We have had our ups and downs...wasn't a perfectly smooth build...however, we know we have a quality home and we love it! We have just had our 6 month inspection prior to xmas and now just have to organise a time for the work to be done...not a lot to do though. Friends we know who built with different builder had a lot more to do than us! And a few of the tradies in the area have said that DAH seem to have the best built homes in our area (without them knowing who we built with!)...so that is a good sign! Follow up is always excellent with your CLO (well, so long as you have a good one and if you get who I had SHE IS AWESME!!!) and Jemima on here is also AWESOME!!! A few threads for DAH too which you will want to check out! Re: Perth NOR Build 4Jan 02, 2013 1:21 pm While Im trying to work out photobucket here is our color selection. Thanks! I have been stalking your thread To be honest we didn't really look around at builders - DAH display homes stood out to us and the service and response was fantastic! Jemima has already been in touch which was a nice unexpected surprise. : : : : : : : : : : : : 2014 | Time to move to the country 2012 | Our Build with Dale Alcock https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61943 Re: Perth NOR Build 6Jan 02, 2013 1:42 pm Apologies for the quality of my photos. Elevations http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/elevations_zpse841b245.jpg Floorplan http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/floorplan_zpsaee1dff3.jpg We chose not to have a separate home office as we have school aged children so we will use the wall of the larder for a desk / tech station. We did get a quote to get this 'desk area' build but coming in at a bit over $4k I'll find a nice desk myself. Everything we asked for in our design we achieved and are very happy with the final design. : : : : : : : : : : : : 2014 | Time to move to the country 2012 | Our Build with Dale Alcock https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61943 Re: Perth NOR Build 7Jan 02, 2013 1:43 pm Jemima really helped me out when I had an issue with my first CLO. She is brilliant!!! Your selections are impressive!!! Have you based any of them on a display? Or are you going out on a limb and doing your own thing? We are in the process of doing our back yard. must get photos up of the progression. When i say "we" i mean, I have designed it, and hubby is doing it. We are doing one side first as we are waiting for parents to build a swing set on the other side...we could be waiting awhile! I am hoping to have lawn in one side in two weeks! Retic is just about finished...just have to organise some top soil stuff as we only have yellow sand with no nutrients whatsoever!!! So much to do!!! Your slab went down 3 weeks before ours (but a year later) so you could probably expect to have keys around beginning of May! very exciting!!! We were lucky during the xmas/new year period...we were expecting 4 weeks off in total, but only 2 weeks i think was the down time. Re: Perth NOR Build 8Jan 02, 2013 1:48 pm I love your unique plan! I am a big fan of something DIFFERENT! And you have certainly achieved it! I think this is one of the reasons we chose our plan, even though it is off the plan, it wasn't the same entrance, masterbed on one side and an open plan living near it, with kids beds down one hall up the back. Little things can make a plan quite unique!!! Goodluck with the build! Re: Perth NOR Build 9Jan 02, 2013 1:58 pm Scary - we are going out on a limb although we love the exterior of the Archipelago display so that is similar. We were really wanting to have concrete flooring instead of floorboards but there were a few issues getting it done during construction so we decided against it. http://www.dalealcock.com.au/Images/Pro ... height=421 We did a drive by a few times over the Chrissy period and out bricky was there so not sure if he had much time off. Our front yard will be our backyard if that makes sense - the garage is on a lane so hopefully our lanscaping package will get most of it completed for us. We are in a water wise area and can only plant natives and have minimal lawn so any photos will be inspiration! WOW - so happy you say it is different! That's exactly what we were after and SO HAPPY the DAH team achieved it for us! Not quite sure about the kids being up the other end of the house - at the moment we are in a 2 storey and all our bedrooms are upstairs next to each other ... where I can keep an eye on them!!!!! : : : : : : : : : : : : 2014 | Time to move to the country 2012 | Our Build with Dale Alcock https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61943 Re: Building Perth Northern Suburbs - DAH 10Jan 03, 2013 9:57 am Hi Beachside. Love your plans. Am also a fan of 'different'. Fab kitchen. Looking forward to seeing your progress. We are currently building with Aveling but our last home was custom with DAH. They were were having staff issues at the time and we went through 4 CLO's which was annoying, but it sounds like all has settled now and everyone on here seems to be really impressed. Can't wait to see some more pics PS: DAH were great after handover, 6 month follow up and beyond was faultless Re: Building Perth Northern Suburbs - DAH 11Jan 03, 2013 12:22 pm Posting to follow your thread Building the Riva by Dale Alcock Homes. When we signed up DAH had a deal on with their finishing packages so we chose to get the Exposed Aggregate, we used two of the Floor covering packages for timber flooring to all areas except wet areas and we originally chose the 6 star package (insulation etc) but as standard we get 3.0R Batts and Permivac Insulation to all cavity walls so we opted out of that package and went for the Internal Wall Painting throughout. It may have cost a little more than us arranging to do it ourselves (honestly we didn't even compare it) but the thought of moving in with everything done we figure was worth it.. That and the thought of painting a house with three kids helping There are a few 'different' things in our design but we were after a different plan that suits us and not something off the plan that is the same as everyone else. We have rented a few homes and some things in those homes worked, others didn't so this home is a combination of both - a few examples being: # only one row of tiles to the kitchen # no overhead cupboards in the kitchen # a lot of storage in the laundry # freezer in the Larder # guest room for the grandis to stay in as they visit often # our kids don't use a bath so we have a larger hob-less shower in their bathroom # hobless / semi-frameless showers - argh I hate cleaning shower doors One of the reasons we chose DAH was they have DAH Central in Ossy Park ... With kids who dislike shopping the idea of everything in one place without the need of spending our weekends looking at tile shops and showrooms it was priceless to us. The Kids room with toys and a TV in DAH Central is also great! We could keep an eye on the kids watching tv and playing while we did our pre-start and colour selection. The other main reason was their standard specs - I think the clear winner was the vitreous china toilet as opposed to a plastic one! During prestart we did upgraded/deleted a few thing which I'll list as I read lots of threads with lots of things that I wouldn't have thought of.... # Roller door rather than Sectional as Hubby tinkers with cars and apparently a roller door allows for more lighting in the garage : # # Color bond Gutter Fascia & downpipes. (I would have thought this be standard spec but wasn't too much to upgrade) # Paving down the both sides of the house. With school aged kids and a hubby that works long hours again we thought it easier to just get it done. Hopefully the Landscaping from the Developer will finish the rest of the yard. # Grey mortar rather than cream. We saw the brick and mortar combo in a DAH display and liked the look of them in the Alfresco # All mirror sliders in the Master (yes, we have sliding doors in the master bedroom! we have them now and they work for us! Our consultant (sorry not sure of the abbreviation) must have thought we were mad - the original design had a lovely Dressing Room and I said No thanks! # All cupboards to drawers in the kitchen and have aluminium finger grips instead of handles # Changed the style of the Shelf in the Bathroom/Ensuite # Deleted soap holders - we never ever use ours! # Drawers to the Ensuite/Bathroom # Extra Towel Rail in the Kids Bathroom so one doesnt have to hang their towel on the door # Pull Out bin drawers in the Laundry for dirty washing (woah they had better be worth it) There may have been a few more but that's a {quick} summary. : : : : : : : : : : : : 2014 | Time to move to the country 2012 | Our Build with Dale Alcock https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61943 Re: Building Perth Northern Suburbs - DAH 15Jan 03, 2013 9:01 pm Love all the storage in our laundry. This was actually inspired by a Blog I used to follow - Super Organiser Mum. I discovered Blogs before we started building and ever since Hubby is worried about what I'll find next to paint/cover/build. I would have like a single glass door instead of the sliding door but I was over-ruled *whoops didnt delete the txt when editing* http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/IMG_5853_zps9a0ba864.jpg http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/IMG_5854_zps914d69f6.jpg A drawer each for the kids - hopefully this will keep things a little more organised http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/IMG_5852_zps0d9e16f4.jpg http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/IMG_5843_zps99327be1.jpg More of the kitchen - Many sleepless nights over this design. Originally the sink was on the island bench which I really didnt like and we our F&P Dish-drawers ALL the time so we wanted them near where we would pile plates after meals. The only things on the kitchen bench will be our Nespresso machine and Thermomix. We are old school and use a gas kettle so am loving the hotplates with the extra 'kettle spot'. http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/IMG_5851_zpsae1c5fe9.jpg Kitchen was inspired by this one I saw on Grand Designs a long time ago http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/075_GDS_0409_3_zpse1f8deef.jpg http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/IMG_5848_zps8a2fd9de.jpg http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/IMG_5847_zps2da7ea00.jpg And our favourite little extra http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/a543/beachside_/IMG_5849_zpsad73af88.jpg Our Master bedroom faces direct west so I'm looking forward to soaking in here watching the sunset! : : : : : : : : : : : : 2014 | Time to move to the country 2012 | Our Build with Dale Alcock https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61943 Re: Building Perth Northern Suburbs with Dale Alcock Homes 16Jan 03, 2013 11:00 pm Luvely Beachside. Nice choices. Your kitchen is really interesting. I didn't quite understand why you have sink and dishwasher on different sides but maybe I didn't read it properly? 3 large drawers in kids bathroom, great thinking, no fighting over the space. What a huge shower for the kids. Lucky ducks. I know what you mean about laundry drawer. I nearly had a coronary with our kitchen bin drawer and had to let the laundry one go instead Cheers, SB Re: Building Perth Northern Suburbs with Dale Alcock Homes 17Jan 03, 2013 11:06 pm Love the layout! The only cupboards I have in the kitchen is under the sink and the pantry. I replaced the rest with t draws! Much more practical! I wish I had known about the bin draws, though I think it get have been one of the things I had to give up I had wanted draws in the ensuite vanity but at nearly $1000 for two sets just couldn't justify it. The sink is hiding in the corner and dish drawers are under the island bench - yet something else a little different. fmac Thanks! our bin drawers were expensive for what they are (well I thought so)! We'll use one to hold our rubbish bin and one for laundry. Where we rent now the bin is located almost out of the kitchen so we are hoping it will work - just a matter of getting used to it I hope. I'm almost certain it didn't cost that much to change our vanity around - ill have to have a look. : : : : : : : : : : : : 2014 | Time to move to the country 2012 | Our Build with Dale Alcock https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61943 Like I said the Occupancy Certificate is not the tollgate that marks the completion of the house.
