Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 01, 2013 1:30 pm Well not long now. After many years of talking to builders, we have finally decided to build the Porter Davis Marbella 42 with Edgeworth facade and family room / Al Fresco option. Our small home in the inner eastern suburbs has served us well but its almost time to find a rental property and book the demolisher prepare out block for a start sometime in April. We have our pre tender appointment scheduled for mid January, so the journey is about to begin. Re: Building the PD Marbella 42 in 2013 6Jun 04, 2013 9:20 pm Heyya Ashy.. looks like we're both have about the same build schedule. Our slab is being poured on Thurs (6th). Our slab is being poured on Thurs (6th). Keep us posted.. Excellent News Good Luck with the Slab Pour I had a look at our block this morning and all of the boxing around the slab has now been removed. There seems to have been a lot of back fill material delivered, maybe to distribute around the building area in preparation for the frame. Re: Building the PD Marbella 42 in 2013 8Jun 08, 2013 7:31 pm I met the Site Supervisor on site on Thursday and had a good chat. I have been assured that PD are going to catch up on my build schedule big time. The Framers will be on site on Tuesday and should have it completed within 10 days. Multiple tradesmen will be on site at the same time to catch up on time lost. Sounding very encouraging, Re: Building the PD Marbella 42 in 2013 10Jun 12, 2013 10:12 pm suziz3 We love that house too...with the guest room up the top as well....can't wait to hear about how you go... If it ever stops raining we might get past the slab stage. My windows arrived today, together with the flooring for the second storey. Re: Building the PD Marbella 42 in 2013 11Jun 12, 2013 10:27 pm Hopefully you get a break in the weather soon. How many days is your contract? We are due to start in July some how I think 10 rain days might not be enough this winter.... Re: Building the PD Marbella 42 in 2013 12Jun 12, 2013 11:17 pm Back Pocket Hopefully you get a break in the weather soon. How many days is your contract? We are due to start in July some how I think 10 rain days might not be enough this winter.... I will have to check. The annoying things is PD asked us to get the house demolishers to hurry up back in February. Then nothing happened for weeks and weeks. My block was bone dry urging this period. The Henley house being built around the corner had its block scrapped the same day as ours. The have the frame and roof on, whilst they are plastering inside. There is simply no way that the framers can start on my block at present due to water and mud. Re: Building the PD Marbella 42 in 2013 13Jun 14, 2013 7:00 pm The framers finally arrived and got started on the frame to my new house. Re: Building the PD Marbella 42 in 2013 14Jun 30, 2013 3:09 pm Well its 2 weeks later, the frame is up and the roof tiles have arrived. Bricking starts towards the end of this week Yippee Re: Building the PD Marbella 42 in 2013 15Jun 30, 2013 5:38 pm That's fantastic, great to know you are back in action. Love what you have done with the blog . I hope it doesn't sound too corny, but it's a lot of fun to do. Do you have a blog or any pictures of your build? Our roof is almost finished. We are still waiting for the AlFresco area and Activities room to be tiled at the rear of the house. Bricking is due to start next week. This will sort out the garage, so we can get the roof done on that as well. In the meantime, we are still waiting for our Site Supervisor (who is on a weeks holiday) to get back to me with an action plan to fix the problems with my frame that my independent Building Inspector found last Thursday. Anyhow time for another Blog update. Re: Building the PD Marbella 42 in 2013 18Jul 06, 2013 7:48 pm The bricks have arrived, and the frame is now partially wrapped.
