Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 31, 2012 7:07 am Hi all work stopped on the build for us mid December, which is ok as we all need a break from work. Was told that some tradies would be working through but no one has which is also ok just wish I wasn't told because then I wouldn't of expected it. How's everyone's build progress going over the Christmas break if any? Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 2Dec 31, 2012 7:23 am We've been in our house 2.5 years now... but... we've finally started landscaping the backyard!!! Yard was scraped and levelled last week, and yesterday our pergola started... I know that's not what you're asking... but I'm a tad excited Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 3Dec 31, 2012 7:28 am Was told that tradies - not subbies - would start on 7 Jan. Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 4Dec 31, 2012 7:46 am Yeah our SS is meant to be back then also. Just Erin, that's great you have some landscaping done, looking forward to all that Fun of designing the yard once we have curtains and fence good luck . Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 5Dec 31, 2012 9:00 am we have been told 7th jan also for the tradies to restart our home Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 6Dec 31, 2012 9:31 am Thanks, we are near lockup stage so im not sure how many more weeks till we get the keys... I'm guessing once they are back it should take around 8 weeks with luck Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 7Dec 31, 2012 9:33 am I was told the 7th, but the painter has been in and done the first coat of hog bristle over the main walls. Well I hope it was the only the first coat because it is a poor job if it was the final coat. Slooowwwwly getting a Manhatten 35 in Middleton Grange Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 9Dec 31, 2012 9:58 am Paint would be nice! And the rest of the architraves so I can measure up the curtains... We have little Pet spiders on the windows making a home.. Plaster powder everywhere! Wish we went away then this process wouldn't seemed dragged out.. Can't wait until they are back on the 7th. Though, can't imagine much will be done until the week after, if they are anything like me after a holiday it takes me a few days to get back into things Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 10Dec 31, 2012 10:27 am Not even a drop of paint at our house! Nut then we were told not to expect tradies back into full swing until the 16th!!!!!!!!! I'm hoping something will happen next week though I can dream Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 11Dec 31, 2012 12:08 pm We had someone working at our block on the Saturday before Christmas, I thought there last day was Friday, so I was surprised to see that. Went for a drive by this morning, no action at my place but tradies were working on a block down from mine. They are nearly at lock up. My ss told me work would recommend on the 9th but the things he said would get done, were completed before the break, was surprised actually. Wonder if we won't see any action until the next week. Built a Hawthorne 31 with EB nessjeffdreamhouse.blogspot.com.au Building an investment now with New Living homes... We are at nearly finished... Just landscaping and driveway to go! Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 12Dec 31, 2012 12:25 pm Im only at the paperwork stage and constant communication with the agents and reps. Its been quite hard to contact a few (not all), during the xmas period and new year with lots of them turning their mobiles off haha. Not fun when one is asking for something urgently and you can't get it in time! At least they understand and give abit more leeway. Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 13Dec 31, 2012 12:55 pm We managed lock up the Thursday before Xmas and the white set was finished on the Saturday. We need a water tank in North Kellyville, even though we are on recycled water. Its for stormwater retention. Re: Anyone house had any progress over the Christmas break? 16Dec 31, 2012 2:47 pm I got the impression by my SS that he is away and that is that.... Hear from you when you get back.. Which is ok by me everyone needs a break, just a little bummed that we were told some tradies would be working over the Christmas break and nothing has been done.. Wouldn't expect them to be but when It was mentioned I was looking forward to seeing some progress. I agree we are rapt with new generation, our house is ahead if schedule and our wet area tiler has been working over Christmas so that he is done when the rest if the trades come back, handover expected by the end of feb!! Not sure who you're building with, but I moved in recently to a 11month scheduled, 8 month actual build on the South coast/Illawarra NSW 3 5901 That is a really good attitude Akin to you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. I do enjoy watching that tik tok inspector from Victoria but he does go a little… 12 81766 8 6083 |
