I had given up on this tile as I couldn't find it anywhere. Now I've found it!! I have to get it shipped from Italy and its much more expensive than what I thought BUT.... I'm hoping our builder will give us a decent credit if we choose to remove the glass splashback. Our builder has been pretty good so far with the amount of credit we get back on items we are removing. So my question is this... How much on average does a glass splashback cost per square metre? If I'm armed with some idea of price it'll let me know whether its even worth asking him. Really?? That's awesome!! If my builder credits us at least $250 a square metre I can get the tiles Custom downslope build Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61873 Blog http://www.buildingroyalmanor.blogspot.com.au Re: Our custom home - downward slope - splashback question p 25Jan 02, 2013 7:20 pm Here is a pic of the tile I love. The pic doesn't do it justice. It has a beautiful pearl like shimmery shine to it. The cabinet colours here are very similar to what I want too. Re: Our custom home - downward slope - splashback question p 27Jan 04, 2013 9:12 pm Angels, our builder had tiles as a default option but after reading this forum and other sources I decided to upgrade to a glass splashback, which now cost us $1800 installed hope it will be easier to maintain ?, loved the unlimited choice of colors (picked one from a dulux palette) may be if we would have a cooktop built in kitchen island then tiles or stone plates or other textured material would adore a splashback.. I think here it all depends on what you prefer and how much do you enjoy cleaning/cooking lol regards RagnarsWife Re: Our custom home - downward slope - splashback question p 28Jan 04, 2013 10:08 pm All valid points. We have a tile splashback where we're living now and it's very easy to clean and maintain and still looks new and clean and the kitchen is 9 years old. I quickly wipe it after each meal. Maybe I don't stir my food well enough to make mess on the splashback These tiles are massive 915mm wide so a little wider than the 900mm cooktop so very little grout above the cooking area Custom downslope build Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61873 Blog http://www.buildingroyalmanor.blogspot.com.au Re: Our custom home - downward slope - splashback question p 29Jan 04, 2013 11:43 pm 915mm is huge I wonder how many of them do you need to cover the area? Re: Our custom home - downward slope - splashback question p 30Jan 05, 2013 5:25 am No idea until I get my working drawings from the architect (still waiting ). Looking at my plans it seems the splashback is approx 3 to 3.5m long so maybe 3.5 tiles across? I wouldn't need many tiles at all I thought they would be too big to put on a wall but obviously not as I've seen them in a house (pic in earlier post). I would get the grout sealed anyway but still, the less grout the better. We just received an email from our architect that said we should have our working drawings "any day now". Please please please let them be ready soon. Feels like we have been waiting forever We were hoping to start the build by February. Fat chance that will happen now Custom downslope build Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61873 Blog http://www.buildingroyalmanor.blogspot.com.au Re: Our custom home - downward slope - splashback question p 34Jan 09, 2013 9:22 pm Angels, have you got the drawings yet? it is such a wonderful feeling when you open the envelop and see your dream becoming closer Re: Our custom home - downward slope - splashback question p 35Jan 10, 2013 12:03 am Not yet. We are tempted to email the architect the following... "you advised we would receive our drawings any day. We have looking at the calendar and there is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We can't see 'any day'. Can you please advise when any day is?" Hubby rang the builder this afternoon who advised that he has received the working drawings from the architect and he will look over them and send them through to us this weekend via email to look over Any amendments we want to the working drawings (no doubt we will have some) shouldn't take long to do. Then the next step will be finalising finance once we can get the plans to the bank for their valuation. There is a light at the end of the tunnel... I'm actually pleasantly surprised with how they have turned out. We only want to make a few small tweaks to the joinery in the laundry and kitchen. The builder said we will have our contracts to sign within 2 weeks - eeek! It's going to finally happen.... After 5 years of thinking about it we are finally going to build on our land! At Beacon I compared two vs three over our island bench length and two looked good. If I was going to buy the clear lights I would buy three but it looked "too busy" with three lights in amber. 1rocky - black pendants would look awesome. I love any kitchen bench pendant that is different to the usual white/clear. Soooo.... I purchased the amber lights today for island bench and I also purchased the below pendant for above our dining table. We haven't got a start date yet for the build and I'm already buying stuff Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ When we got home I opened and checked all the lights. Lucky I did as the colour had rubbed off in parts on one of the amber lights. I went back to Beacon and they changed it over for me without any hassle Sorry if I'm too late. . . but if you're an NRMA member you get an automatic 10% discount off all full-priced lights. . . best to wait until they have their sales though to see if they bring them down even more in price. Re: Our custom home - downward slope - today is 'any day' 40Jan 12, 2013 9:35 pm oh. . . and hope you have more luck with the glass pendants than I did.
