Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Re: Maddutchmans-golden grove(SA)-Painting time 183Jun 09, 2013 11:32 am _lucinda It is so lovely. thanks Re: Maddutchmans-golden grove(SA)-Painting time 184Jun 09, 2013 11:35 am ok, this is were i need opinions for the front outdoor lights(1 either side of garage entrance & by front door), the wife likes something like this but in a charcoal/black http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/lighti ... steel.html i am unsure if it won't suit the style Re: Re: Maddutchmans-golden grove(SA)-Painting time 185Jun 09, 2013 2:56 pm I would to for something more traditional for that house, probably a colonial cottage style, but that's just me. There is no reason not to have something more modern, especially if being used as a sensor light for security. Re: Re: Maddutchmans-golden grove(SA)-Painting time 186Jun 09, 2013 3:23 pm I like the lights but think a charcoal would look better and tie in nicely with roof colour. Not looking too modern or out of place then. Can I ask what the distance is of the left side of the garage between the wall and the opening where you wish to put one of the lights. We have a similar verandah back to garage and wasn't sure there would be enough space in that spot for us to put a light but yours looks plenty. Re: Maddutchmans-golden grove(SA)-Painting time 187Jun 09, 2013 4:03 pm wow, looking good, doesn't the paint make a difference in regard to lighting - we are using a similar style. I had misgivings about if after ordering them and went back to the shop to discuss it and the lady convinced me to stay with them saying not everything has to be traditional, and they look good with the light and shadow on the stone Re: Re: Maddutchmans-golden grove(SA)-Painting time 188Jun 09, 2013 4:13 pm Amancharmar I like the lights but think a charcoal would look better and tie in nicely with roof colour. Re: Re: Maddutchmans-golden grove(SA)-Painting time 190Jun 09, 2013 5:25 pm Personally I'd be wondering if it ties in with the style/theme that you want for the house. Do you have the provisions for the lighting or are you going to put them in yourself? Are you wanting to avoid the "typical/classic" http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/lighting/outdoor-lighting/outdoor-house-lights/castille-ext-cast-hex-lant-bk.html For your peace of mind, I ask because we're having the same battle at the moment with what kind of lighting to have on ours. We're thinking something more like this:http://www.beaconlighting.com.au/lighting/outdoor-lighting/outdoor-house-lights/bayer-2-light-exterior-wall-bracket-in-stainless-steel.html Kenny & Kayla - Adelaide Follow our build on Instagram First build 2013 - Finished and sold Second build 2018 - Underway Re: Re: Maddutchmans-golden grove(SA)-Painting time 191Jun 09, 2013 5:35 pm kaykens Personally I'd be wondering if it ties in with the style/theme that you want for the house. Personally I think they match the style of your house a little bit more bu..it's not my house Kenny & Kayla - Adelaide Follow our build on Instagram First build 2013 - Finished and sold Second build 2018 - Underway Re: Re: Maddutchmans-golden grove(SA)-Painting time 193Jun 09, 2013 5:38 pm They are nice and probably better suited. Re: Re: Maddutchmans-golden grove(SA)-Painting time 194Jun 10, 2013 4:10 pm I like both. Your wifes choice in charcoal will add a clean simple look and the ones you like will be a feature...depends if you want them to stand out or be unobtrusive....
