Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 21, 2012 9:18 am Haven't had a chance to talk to the builder about this as they're shut for Xmas but would like some feedback. We are building in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne with a volume builder. At our selections appointment we optioned in "Termite Protection" for around $1600 It was installed this week. See photos. This pipe is the termite pipe that they pump their solution into. The installer has run the pipe over the slab projection. The slab projection was put in after the bricks were up following an engineers report that stated that the ad-hoc cut into the slab the builders made to support the shower waste U-bend was not acceptable. The slab projection was excavated to about 800mm, and dug in under the slab, reinforcement placed and then filled with concrete. I'm OK with it. My question is, would you accept the termiguard pipe being run above this small slab. It's still below the level of the 2 brick rebate, so it will be covered over with concrete when we lay skirt paving around the house but I'm concerned that the amount of concrete I'll be able to get above the pipe will be so thin that it will crack through at the slightest pressure from above. Sureley they could have run the pipe around the extra slab, under the dirt? Does this mean the termiguard perimiter is breached by have the pipe in this location?
