Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 10, 2012 11:07 am I have been reading through posts and threads for over 12 months, so thought i would start my own building thread now that we have something happening on our site:) We are building the Atlantique Mk2, with a couple of changes in SE Melbourne. We have added an extra 3 meters on the garage and a couple of meters through the length of the house. (l will add photos when work out how ) We also got our double garage door a little wider than normal, my husband doesn't trust my driving skills We dealt with Jackie from the Selandra Rise display homes. She was amazing!!! Nothing was a problem and she was on top of everything. We loved the house but she is the reason we choose to build with Carlisle Homes. So far our experience with Carlisle has been fantastic! They started work on our site last week (6/12). We now have a porta loo and our site scrapped!!! YAY!!!! Who would think you would get so excited over a toilet haha. We have only been to look at the moved dirt 10 times over the weekend Our slab is booked in for late next week Kym Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 2Dec 10, 2012 3:26 pm Hi willow2012 Good luck with your build we have been in our Carlisle home about 3 months now and love it Site Cut 8/04/12 Slab 13/04/12 Frame 18/04/12 Roof 07/05/12 Lock Up 06/06/12 Keys 30/08/12 Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 3Dec 11, 2012 8:52 am Hi coobri, How long did your build take? l know Christmas will hold us up a little but hopefully they will get straight back into it. Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 7Jan 14, 2013 9:45 am We now have our slab and the frame has started!!! So excited Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 8Jan 16, 2013 1:35 pm Our frame is due to be completed on Friday Everything seems to be progressing nicely!! l feel like a little kid at Christmas, l love watching all the progress!! We spent so much time looking at builders and plans because we wanted to make the right decision, it is hard to believe it is all happening now. Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 10Jan 21, 2013 1:20 pm Thanks 4mako! It is nice to hear from people that have built with Carlisle. This thread is a little lonely with comments When we were researching builders and houses it is so hard to find much information so l thought l would write this thread so people can see how our build went:D Our frame was finished on Friday We got a call from our SS on friday and we will have more work done this week We have booked in New Home Inspections for our frame inspection tomorrow morning, hopefully it goes well and there isn't much to fix! Carlisle has a lock on our bin onsite, so people as just dumping their rubbish on our nature strip. I don't understand why people do that, they are only making their own estate look like a tip!!! (assuming they are from the same estate ) l could always peep into backyards and see who has the new basketball ring and return the box to them along with all their household rubbish Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 11Jan 22, 2013 8:00 pm Hello Willow! Very excited for you! carlisle is a builder I am strongly considering did you buy house and land package? I'm thinking that's the route I'll go but nervous about soil tests and extra costs o_o do you have a blog? Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 12Jan 23, 2013 10:20 am Hi LittleWing, We didn't get a house and land package, we purchased our block approx 12 months before deciding on which house and builder. Sorry l don't have a blog, only what l write on here, but please free to message me if you want to know anything else We are only up to tiling the roof this week, but so far l could not recommend Carlisle any higher !! We have had great communication with them and our house is getting built at a really good pace. If you speak to one of the Sales Rep's at one of there display houses they should be able to give you a better idea about site costs. Ask about fixed site costs We found our Sales Rep to be very helpful and honest when working costs out with us. Good luck LittleWing!! Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 13Jan 23, 2013 10:29 am Where are you building? We are building with Carlisle in the Pasadena Estate in Clyde and are very happy so far! Pasadena is a really nice estate Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 15Jan 23, 2013 9:01 pm willow2012 Hi LittleWing, We didn't get a house and land package, we purchased our block approx 12 months before deciding on which house and builder. Thank you very much Willow I went and had a nice 2 hour chat with a carlisle sales rep today (who happened to be from the main office filling in for the usual sales rep) and asked about fixed site costs (amongst a large laundry list of other things LOL!) - they haven't done house and land in Bacchus Marsh but have built up there and he said that they could probably put a package together for me that would include fixed site costs. That would be a dream because one of the only things stopping me from Bacchus is that scary land! lol! I'm so glad to hear that your build is going well with them! I was very impressed with how he took his time with me, answered all of my niggly questions, and even offered to help me try to get a really good deal on the design I like Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 16Jan 29, 2013 10:53 am The tiling of our roof is finished and windows are in. Our bricks are getting delivered this week Really happy with our SS he seems to be on top of everything and we have had people onsite nearly every day. I have heard from someone else that he is a good SS too. l have to drive past on my way to work each morning and l get excited every time l see someone on site. l feel like a kid on Christmas morning Actually l am like that on Christmas morning too!!! l cannot believe how quick it is all coming together. It looks like a house now Our private inspection last week went really well!! A couple of very minor things to fix but Carlisle said these will all be done, so we are really happy!!! The frame and slab looked really good on the whole Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 17Jan 29, 2013 2:35 pm Hi everyone, I am new to homeone, in fact new to forums all together actually . But I'm building the Atlantique MK2 with Carlisle Homes and so I began researching the net trying to find others who may be building with Carlisle also. As its our first build I really don't know what to look out for; so it's great to hear about other people's experiences and share in their excitement. Willow2012 I am really excited for you and can't wait to hear how things are going for you. We are building in Bacchus Marsh....well we soon will be, hopefully if all goes well we should begin building at the end of Feb or early March. Anyway, please keep letting us know how things are going with your build, I am really excited to hear about it. voni74 building Atlantique MK2 with Carlisle Homes Contract signed 05/12/12 Site cut 19/03/13 Slab pour 10/04/13 Frame 22/04/13 Lock-up 14/05/13 Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 18Jan 30, 2013 11:11 am Congratulations voni74 on building your new home!! We done the same before we signed to build the Atlantique, l searched the internet to find out as much information as possible. Building a house is so much money, we wanted to make sure we were making the right decision. Once Carlisle start you will not believe how quickly it all starts to come together. We built with another builder around 10 years ago and it was a completely different experience than this time. So far we have had nothing but a great experience with Carlisle. Our CLE or SS let us know when anything is happening and they are both approachable which has made things easy. Our 3 year old son is getting so excited! We walked past our house last night and our son talked about our new tap for the next hour. He tells me it is a really really cool tap, and he thinks he likes the tap better than the house Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 19Jan 30, 2013 9:23 pm Willow lol at your son regarding the tap!!! Considering its your brand new tap I bet you love it quite a lot as well Congratulations Voni! I was considering Bacchus Marsh myself but have settled on Plumpton. Bacchus is lovely and the folks there are super friendly may I ask which estate you're building in? I am strongly considering Carlisle, I feel they build good quality homes with great designs HD Re: Building the Atlantique Mk2 with Carlisle Homes 20Feb 09, 2013 6:59 pm Thanks Willow2012 and littlewing. I am really excited now, as we just got our formal approval for finance and now we will be starting at the end of Feb....ohhh so excited LOL! Littlewing I am building in Maddingley, basically in the heart of Bacchus, it was the last block in the street as the estate is an older one. We did consider Darley, but it was way too hilly and slopey and would have cost a bomb to build there. So we were ecstatic when this block came up, its 1581 sq.m (almost half an acre) and it's flat. I like Plumpton too and actually considered building there too for a while, can you believe it LOL. But I just love Bacchus, and it's central to my family so that's why we settled for there. I have had good experiences so far with Carlisle, but it's early days yet, I hope it keeps going well. My CLE is really nice and friendly and she always goes out of her way for us. I hope our SS does the same, I guess we'll find out soon enough. I checked out product review and that's actually what sealed the deal for me with Carlisle. I originally liked a Dennis Family house, but after reading posts on product review, I decided no. I like Carlisle's designs and they have heaps of luxury extras included in the base costs. Every little bit helps, especially when you're spending so much hard earned money. Willow2012 how's your build coming along? Your 3 year old sounds adorable. My kids would probably get stuck on something like the tap too LOL. It's shiny and it's new and it's yours! voni74 building Atlantique MK2 with Carlisle Homes Contract signed 05/12/12 Site cut 19/03/13 Slab pour 10/04/13 Frame 22/04/13 Lock-up 14/05/13 Carlisle use to sneak a water resistant "Performance Solution" into their contracts.
