Put more trees in today, replaced a few from last years planting and added quite a few more. Some of the sydney blue gums planted last year as saplings are now 1.6m tall... Some more photos below. Will get more photos of all the living areas once they're all done. It also brightens the space and gives it perspective. Getting closer to becoming a home . Another thing on the already long list would be another water tank, as our tank has been overflowing. Started the process in July 1013 Slab laid on the 4th April, brickwork still not finished Just seems to be one delay after another Mark Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 131Jul 26, 2014 7:33 pm House is nearly at 'lock up' stage! Our finger's are crossed, hoping that everything continues to progress as well as it has been during the last few months. Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 132Jul 26, 2014 7:53 pm Hi big90, it was a slow start but because of other issues. Since the slab was poured in Jan, things did happen reasonably fast until we got to the roof stage, only because the carpenter decided to go on holidays and no one else wanted to turn up and take over a half completed roof, so we just had to wait for the roofy to come back. Since the roof carpenter finished the momentum just kept building and now we're at lock up (7months it has taken since slab). We're at a stage where we would rather everything was done well and mitigate any rework as oppose to compromising workmanship for speed. The new supervisor has been really meticulous with the details and pushing quality and speed. Our experience has ultimately been a positive one. Have you spoken with anyone at Red Ink expressing your concerns at the lack of progress? I'm sure someone will be able to resolve or at least give you a good reason as to why it's taken a while. I hope your build starts picking up asap. This wet weather definitely wouldn't be helping your cause. Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 134Jul 28, 2014 2:15 pm Hi LC, I found your thread! Love the house and it must feel good to know you're so close to the end. Being at the opposite end of the process its all feels a long way off. Reading through your progress has made me realise how much we need to sort. We too are moving our building envelope but RI are dealing with this as part of the overall building permit application. Were RI good at guiding you as things went along? How complex are the other approvals you need (water tank, shed etc)? Was this your first build? You seem very knowledgeable about the process, or has that been learned as you've gone along? Sorry to bombard you with questions but we are very new to all of this! It 's really good to hear so many reports as to how good RI are in the area and that the Shire are good too. One of my concerns having read other reviews was that things could get delayed but most of those reviews are from very different areas to us! Anyway I had better so some work work - I will follow the rest of your build with interest! Nikki Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 135Jul 29, 2014 10:28 pm Thanks AKB! Hi Nikki, We organised our own power (3 phase), septics, earthworks, tank, etc. The shire are very helpful and more than happy to guide you through the approval/permitting process. We got redink to include the septic, tank, shed on the one planning approval. When planning approval was granted, we then organised our own building permit for the water tank + shed. The septic is being arranged by biosystems, from approval, installation and certification. It does feel good knowing the house is nearly finished! I hope it all goes smoothly for you.
