Update: Ceilings painted, wet areas tiled (95%), kitchen in, robes/shelving 90%, there is still a lot of work to do. Loving the feature brick and those floor tiles, the grout is a perfect match! Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 144Aug 16, 2014 11:14 pm Wow a lot has happened since I last checked in! That kitchen bench is so long! Will definitely come in handy! The crisp white kitchen cupboards goes really well against the feature brick. Almost at the finishing line, you must be getting pretty excited!! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 145Aug 17, 2014 8:59 am Thanks AKB, trixee and Tracy! Definitely at the tail end of the build and yes it is exciting; a much higher level of excitement. We're really happy with how the kitchen turned out. Hopefully things keep progressing as they have been doing so. We've been advised that PCI will be in Oct, but I have a feeling it will happen before then, suck and see I suppose. Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 147Aug 17, 2014 10:41 pm Wow I love the beautiful high ceilings, the lovely floor tiles and the gorgeous exposed bricks - it looks spectacular! Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 148Aug 18, 2014 12:31 pm Love it . Did that hamper in the laundry come standed . We have one in our laundry I'm sure at prestart the lady said we have to supply our own basket but when it was made it's a square box made of malimine . So I'm a bit worried to put went towels in there . Maybe I should try to find a basket to put in it . I hope that made sence Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 149Aug 20, 2014 1:15 pm Thanks Mal and Mel ! Things are moving along, the new supervisor knows how to get things done. With regards to the laundry hamper, we were actually expecting what you described. Basically a full height drawer that we place our own basket in. Not sure why they've done it this way, it looks tidy, but it creates dead space inside the cupboard by using a round basket inside a space with a square footprint. I agree with you on the wet towels, I would put a basket inside to avoid ruining the drawer with moisture. Unfortunately I won't be able to update photos for a while, as Im in America at the moment. I believe the appliances are due to go in this week. I'm excited about coming home and seeing what else has been finished off. For flooring we're thinking of polished unfilled travertine tiles in all living areas and timber (blonde, but have not dismissed jarrah) for the private part of the house, ie hallway to the right of entrance hallway and the bedrooms. Just trying to be practical with dogs and kids running in and out. Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 150Aug 23, 2014 12:18 am Enjoy your time in the US when you get back you'll have so much progress to show us Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 151Aug 30, 2014 12:04 am Wow lower chittering. House is looking awesome!! Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 152Aug 30, 2014 9:24 am I agree. Love it all! When everyone was plastering over their internal brickwork a decade or so ago, cos the trend had changed, I was thinking oh no leave some of it!! The wheel always turns. You've achieved a good balance between brick and plaster, well done!! Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 154May 12, 2016 10:34 pm Hi guys, Almost 1.5yrs on, although it has felt like a lifetime. I came across a thread from HO whilst searching for patio screening ideas and I remembered the thread (this thread). I never really finished it off, so I'll post some more pics as an update and provide an end to this chapter. Cheers... Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 155May 12, 2016 11:46 pm Hi lowerchittering Yes please I've been wondering how your beautiful home ended up. Thanks Shelley Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 156May 13, 2016 10:16 pm Ditto, I'd love to see the finished product Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 158Jul 22, 2016 10:47 pm Hi Lowerchittering! How is life in Lower Chittering? Unfortunately it wasn't for us (well, me) and now we have moved on (and here for ideas to renovate). It would be great to see how your place ended up Re: Building in Chittering Retreat...Redink 159Oct 18, 2016 1:16 am Hope you are happy at your new place JJb. Below are some pics I have on my phone. Some of the recycled blackbutt floor, some other pics of work outside... Plenty of other work I don't have pictures of. Eventually I will have time one of these days to document it all properly .
