Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Lyndhurst (Sterling Homes) Adelaide - Pic update 201Jun 12, 2013 8:17 pm It'll happen, but, I know, it's like waiting for Christmas when it's only June. Thing is, better to take the time to make sure everything is right than to rush and have to live with something glaring. Best of luck. Re: Lyndhurst (Sterling Homes) Adelaide - Pic update 202Jun 12, 2013 8:24 pm The house looks great- must be really exciting thinking about landscaping! I love the bricks, render looks fantastic too though. I saw the stools in Target- Husband gently but firmly steered me away as I have been buying too many things for the new house even though construction hasn't yet started You have an awesome amount of yard space! My hubby has a similar height mismatch with a mirror I installed in our current bedroom Re: Lyndhurst (Sterling Homes) Adelaide - Pic update 204Jun 17, 2013 11:27 am Hi guys, Thanks for the feedback - we're definitely getting to the stage where we've been looking at it all for too long and we're just confusing ourselves so it's really good to hear from others. The stools were a steal! We've sat on them already to test them out and they're pretty awesome, for $40 you can't go wrong. We drove past yesterday to have a quick looksee at any exterior progress, and we found this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our roller doors FINALLY came! Now we just seem to be waiting on our replacement windows still....THAT is taking forever. We're waiting to hear from our SS today to confirm our PCI appointment - he called Friday last week and suggested Tuesday but we missed the call so we're just waiting for him to call back and confirm. Thanks for all the well wishes and good lucks. We must've had some good ju-ju on our side because the PCI went quite well. Our SS is a good bloke and was there early marking some things that he had noticed. The site had also had a clean prior to the 10am meeting which was nice. The skip and porta poop are both gone which really shows the front of the house differently now (as you would expect!) They left a little pile of odds and ends that are being picked up tomorrow but that is pretty much clean now. Before we had even walked in, our SS stopped us and looked a bit sad. We got nervous straight away. Apparently over the weekend they had some trouble in our ensuite with a leaking pipe. It has destroyed our cabinet below the mirror and needs replacing. While that was being moved, the basin was taken out and cracked as well. Our hearts sank. We were gutted. HAVE NO FEAR SS TO THE RESCUE. He called his contacts straight away and the guy was there putting in a new cabinet today and the new basin tomorrow so that should all be fixed tomorrow morning at the latest. To start with, we went around the outside first and noted all the external issues that we had. Mainly some chunks taken out of the render and the downpipes needing another lick of paint. Nothing really substantial or out of the ordinary. Our SS has called in a plumber to look at the balancing of our HWS as it is on a concrete tile which is only on sand at the moment. Given the weather in Adelaide lately...not an amazing idea! We moved to the inside after that and the dots started. We found a lot of cracks in cornices from where everything has been settling. Some chips in the paint but nothing crazy. The main thing we would suggest is to walk really slowly looking at both the cornices and skirtings to make sure that there are no cracks. That is where we found the large majority of our "issues". Unfortunately we didn't get any happy snaps of the dots but there was a few and it looked bad but it was good because we found any tiny imperfection and will have it fixed. Now it's just waiting on our lender to get the final invoice to the bank and get them to do their evaluation. Our SS has already booked our final inspection for this Friday at 10am to give us time to see everything fixed and pick up the keys that afternoon. It basically now comes down to our bank doing what they need to do in four days. The render is paperbark and the front pillar is jasper. Been really happy with how the colours have worked together. The oyster bricks were a bit different in person to the sample that we were given but I think that is to be expected with the batches. The bricks have had a couple knocks on window edges etc showing the red clay underneath. Nothing really too dramatic and I think you would need to expect that to happen on any brick.
