Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 21Apr 10, 2013 10:56 am hey guys, we looking at building Monte Carlo 32 or 33.. how are their inclusions are like.. did you guys find that you had to to a fair bit of upgrade to their standard inclusions? would you be able to give an indication how much did the cost end up being compared to the tender cost they quoted or the price they initially quote? i think they are quoting $324k (includes site cost, tiles and carpet) plus facade cost.. do you guys think this price would increase by so much? I am trying to work out my budget and see i this will fit my budget at the end... Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 22Apr 10, 2013 11:00 am what a gorgeous home Love the colours and layout Build start April 2013 - Handover End July 2013. We are in love <3 - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64062&p=1002912#p1002912 Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 23Apr 11, 2013 12:18 am we had a fair few variations, all up an extra 27K! that includes upgrades. just be mindful that going with them is like 20% builders margin. if there is something u can upgrade without going through them is what i would recommend ie carpets, floorboards, driveway etc just get them to build shell. in my experience put aside $30,000 for variations and extras. so many factors can influence cost. I am still waiting for fowler to finish my home! they are the slowest builder on earth. i hope you have time to kill. i paid my initial deposit back in June 2011 and still waiting for my home. Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 24Apr 12, 2013 8:16 am thanks booget... it seems everyone is very slow with the build.. we are also looking at Lily homes.. about 50k cheaper than fowler for a similar 33sq home...but their review seems to also suggest that they are very very slow as well... i dont know if we can find a good builder with fast build period these days.. Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 25Apr 15, 2013 11:30 am you should get them to alter the contract saying you will only build with them if they decrease the contract time. fowler is like 238 days (working days) and the industry shutdown around christmas (5-6weeks) all up its 1 year and they will stretch it out. ive seen 2 houses around me go up much later than mine but are pretty much at the same level I am. if you have the time, i would even suggest an owner builder Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 26Apr 15, 2013 1:06 pm so you wouldn't really recommend them? what about their finish quality? i like their build quality better than Lily homes.. Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 27Apr 17, 2013 7:55 pm If your hoping for same quality as display home don't hold your breath Depends on the area your building and which contractor they decide to put on for your particular job Luck of the draw really, you might get a really good tradie on one job and poor on another. Long story short, we had poor brick work and are getting compensated for it now. Had to fight for it and even went through fair trading. Fowler are just super slow, quality is lacking but can be fixed if your not happy with it. If you are patient then go for it. I'm drained from my experience...... I should be getting handover any day now but I'm not even that excited. Things might change when I actually get the keys!! Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 28Apr 17, 2013 9:15 pm I hope you get your keys soon... I love your tile selection and I guess it is very frustrating seeing the finish line so close yet still so far away! Good luck! Built a Hawthorne 31 with EB nessjeffdreamhouse.blogspot.com.au Building an investment now with New Living homes... We are at nearly finished... Just landscaping and driveway to go! Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 29Apr 18, 2013 11:45 am I hope you get your keys soon as well.. maybe a new house may wipe all these frustration away.. Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 30Apr 19, 2013 5:49 pm Be mindful people that hooking up electricity is another variation with fowler. Don't know about other builders Ie getting electrician to hook up the physical cable from the Main Street to our electrical pole Costed us almost 2k but that's because we live on a main road and need to get traffic stopped, plus it's after hrs work. Good news is I can see the finish line. Should be at PCI once it's done. *sigh* the joys of building Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 32Jun 12, 2013 8:03 am finally received the keys from fowler (still unfinished thou) here are a few pics of the recent additions to the home. I am just going of the photo Re: Building Monte Carlo 33 with Fowler homes 38Aug 22, 2013 6:09 pm Hey booget, the house looks great. And wow a massive backyard. I would never build with Fowler homes. I built with them in 2021 and till date maintenance issues are pending. All their existing trades and businesses don't work with… 14 105532 Anyone built with Fowler Homes? Feedback? Especially any things concerning or negatives? Have heard some horror… 0 9290 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74700 |
