Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 07, 2012 9:07 pm We have a very small courtyard on the right hand side of our house. Does anyone have any suggestions on what they would do with it? We have 3 kids aged 3, 5 and 7 - but not sure whether we should do something with the space for them solely or something we could all use. I hope I have attached the picture ok. The dimensions are 1.4m wide by 5.8m long http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c189/ ... 197eaf.png Our first home... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60460 Land Dep paid 26/2/12 Site cleared7/12/12 Slab 20/12/12 Frame 25/1/13 Bricks 19/2/13 Re: What would you do with this small outside area? 3Dec 07, 2012 9:11 pm Oh, maybe!! I didn't think of that - will have to work out when we are in I suppose as to how much light it will get. Yes Re: What would you do with this small outside area? 5Dec 08, 2012 9:33 pm While a space for the kids is a good idea, I'm thinking you could not really supervise them if you were in the house, you would have to be out there with them. Once they are teens, the kids probably won't use that area at all. If you have good light in that spot, vegies or a herb garden might be nice, add a space for a chair, so you could escape the kids if you wanted (when the other parent is watching them of course)......or when they are teens and you need some space!. Alternatively a good storage area..... maybe a small shed to store the lawn mower, or kids bikes etc....to give you more space in the garage. We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! You are right Onewheel - not very practical supervision wise. We just are going to have such a small backyard (Our block is only 10x30 ) that I was trying to maximize outdoor things for them. I think the vegie/herb garden and a nice comfy chair will be the go depending on light etc. Thanks everyone for your suggestions Our first home... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60460 Land Dep paid 26/2/12 Site cleared7/12/12 Slab 20/12/12 Frame 25/1/13 Bricks 19/2/13 Re: What would you do with this small outside area? 8Dec 09, 2012 9:34 pm That to me is the perfect spot for a clothes line but you don't have a laundry access door which seems odd. People make one happy, not houses? I do not think so. Houses are more to be trusted than people. We sure do - we have a glass sliding door from the laundry (it may not show up on that pre architect drawing!) Clothesline is another great idea!!
