Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 05, 2012 12:27 am How much did you spend (ballpark) on getting your land and/or building contract looked at? what's the difference other than the amount of searches you do? Re: legal costs for land and building contract 2Dec 05, 2012 7:24 am Ours charged a flat fee of $1300. She came out to our house on the weekend to meet with us and pretty much stayed behind the scenes until it came to crunch time. She also came highly recommended. I'd say ring a couple in your area and ask them what their rate is. They'll tell you straight up. Our building developer also provided us a list of the top 10 most used conveyencer's for our area which was helpful. However that was through a family friend so may have been special rates. Building a Delta 21 at Craigieburn - http://homeofzero.blogspot.com.au/ Deposit: 26/02. Contract: 22/05. Settlement: 29/05. They really just asked us to fill out and send them a bunch of paperwork, which we've done, and we've paid for the searches, but we haven't heard from them since, so I don't really know what's supposed to happen next. We just had to sign stuff too, then she sent me an email with the results of the searches, etc and we just had to let them know we were fine with the results. We had extra contact only because of our delays, but after you receive the search results you may not hear from them til settlement, all going well. 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: legal costs for land and building contract 7Dec 05, 2012 2:49 pm Yeah, our land is titled. We only sent them the payment for the searches about a week ago, so I guess we shouldn't expect to hear back too soon. Re: legal costs for land and building contract 9Dec 05, 2012 11:01 pm Thanks for the input guys, i was quoted for about 1000ish for going through the land contract + searches, and also another 500 for going through the building contract. I mean the land contract seems pretty straight forward... but maybe not the building contract.. You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 16566 I've decided, after a period of confusion (my building broker told me it's probably not worth it to use a lawyer, but others have said it is a must) that I definitely will… 7 27955 |
