Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 04, 2012 9:01 pm Hi all, First post, been browsing the forums for a week or two now. I'm looking at buying land within the St George area. I've found a house that really appeals to me(ready to be knocked down) which has a 15.24metre frontage and is around 45metres long. 670metres square total. I'm probably looking at going down the path of finding a designer builder (my mum is a drafter) who will sketch up the initial sketches which we plan on taking to an architect to gain expertise advice and to guide us in the right direction in terms of finalising the duplex plans. We plan on buying the house at auction however I'm not really sure on the steps I should take prior to auction in terms of whether to buy the property and to find out that my DA will not be approved. Could someone provide me with information on how the process works. In terms of the duplex, we plan on building two duplex's, one which will be sold and one which will be kept. We are currently looking at good builders and I was looking for someones input into any good builders they know that build duplex's up to the lock up stage. I used to do labouring as a carpenter and I know a very good carpentry, electrician and tiler who I've worked with on site numerous times. Any tips and advice that anyone is willing to share will be grateful. Regards, Najjaci P.S. I've looked at a few house threads within the forums and I hope to have one up sooner rather than later. Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11015 Give Jonathan a call. Tell him you know me. He is in my opinion the best surveyor I have ever worked with. His number is 0425 285 622 All the best Simeon 3 12372 Just to clarify, I'm not a builder I've read my own council's LEP numerous times and worked with an architect to understand my own lot size and problems. 5 1780 |
